Well, on the games page there's a giant TV and what looks like a Super Nintendo that shows off the featured game.

So......I say there was a revolution that banned cars.

*nods*

Wow, this is the first time I've made a topic and had it get to the second page in one night. Anyhow, I've looked over what everyone has said, and it does seem to take place in the present. This is, of course, assuming Tyrannia is a "lost world" type thing where prehistoric stuff was kept in isolation and as such never evolved, and as I recall, didn't Lisha and the others reach Meridell through a time warp in the ruins? That would make Meridell and Brightvale actually ruins, it's just that the time warp seems well known. So, Present time/Dark Ages, depending on where you are :P

Oh, and the reason I made this topic? There's a comic I'm gonna make once I learn how to draw, and this is a rather important question. Do I have the main character hear of the crisis over the tv, through the paper, or turn on and old tyme radio :P. Is it logical to have an enemy besides Dr. Sloth capable of building a massive army of robots bent on destructions? These questions must be known!

I say 2005, with some pets choosing a more 'back yard' lifestyle. Hey! they can add electricity, plumbing, and upgrade from a dirt floor if they wanted to.

I don't think that Neopets don't have cars .. I think TNT believes that pets should not DRIVE cars. There's a Toy car and such on Neopets. I guess Nigel was the only one rich enough to buy his way past the rules.

This is what I can afford

Maybe... each of the areas is just facing modernisation, other than the Space Station and Neopia Central.

I mean, when Australia was discovered, the Brits thought it was a couple hundred years behind in technology. Now, assuming that Neopian Centralians don't enslave Lost Dersertians or any one else from any era, then each of them lives the way they did before they were discovered, blisfully unaware that great technologies like smoothie machines and elevators exist.

A time warp, even in Neopian Standards seems a little far-fetched. There are also areas like Mystery Island which are modern, but without the high level of technology, due to lack of needing it. I mean, on an island where 99% of the time it's topical weather, why would you need electric heating?

And places like Faerieland are so advanced in technology that they don't even use it. Does that make sense? As in, all the faeries could be cyborg magic ninjas *manic look*:o I read somewhere that if we didn't discover certain technologies, either we would discover them later, or we would go down a whole new path of civilisation. Maybe that's what Faerieland is?

Bleh, TNT works in mysterious ways. One day the sink Maraqua, and we're after their heads, the next they introduce new content and we praise them with harps and angels.

Read the Meridell plot. What else would you call exploring in ruins one second, and winding up in a castle the next. *takes a jump the left, then a step to the right, puts his hands on his hips and brings his knees in tight*

Yah, Time Warp.

So, yeah, I think I'll go with modern day. Although, I'm wondering whether users should have cars, or whether they should be banned like what one of you guys said :P
