Supply and demand is all well and good, but not when it comes to avatar inflation. I mean, I can understand rising prices for Faerie, which is low supply and high demand (due to really cool recent pets), but half a million for an orange paint brush? Please. And no one's saying paint brushes have to be cheap -- just that a fixed price would be a good idea. Having the Darigan and Royal PBs on sale in the Hidden Tower for a set price doesn't make them "cheap," right?
Demand isn't always for the items orinigal purchase. Just becuase orange paint brushes are intended to make your pets orange, and hence htey'd have a relatively low market value, they give you an avatar which causes inflation. People don't want it becuase it's orange, they want it for the avatar. Another example is Wonka Bars, in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Chocolate was selling exteortionate prices and people were buying it. People didn't want chocolates, they wanted Golden Tickets, but that didn't stop it selling high.
If you want a PB, you have to shell out for it. I think that this second market's good, simulating a modern day economy. My only complaint is that the way PBs come into the market is too random. People should be rewarded with PBs, it shouldn't be available to all players, IMO. People should have to work for it. This makes it much more rewarding, to be honest, and also much more elitist. People may see this asa bad thing, but, hey. People with more money should get better items, better pets etc.
