when tnt would read that (don't think that ADAM guy is real xD) they would just freeze less and then we would complain because spammers/cheaters wont get frozen.

Maybe they should find a way to only freeze the people who deserve it? Or at the very least, take the time to help out the people who get unfairly frozen.
err... isn't that what TNT wants to do in the first place?

I don't know.. shall we make a headcount about how many people have written to them and how many have gotten replies?
It's not like I think they're sitting there laughing at all the poor innocent freezings. But still.

i read the petition.

i rather like the "immersive advertising." i think it's the most polite form of making money on the internet. i'd rather see the occasional sponsor game and sidebar ad than pop-ups. it's considerate, not brainwashing.

you make a lot of really good points in there, but you may want to rethink your wording and questionable points (like your finger-pointing at adam).

in the real world, effective petitions are not harshly worded, but are professional, well-researched, and use a reasonable tone. you may want to do the same.

Those are good points, there's just one little thing.. I don't have any hope that it will be an effective petition. I think hell will freeze over before neopets changes. At least from a petition.
Anyway, once a petition is up it can't be edited, so I'd have to start a whole new one.
Maybe I was too harsh on Adam. But it is a fact that he started out with marketing sites and it is a fact that neopets now feels like a marketing site. So people can jump to their own conclusions from there. I just thought it was interesting, but I did try to make it evident that the "suits" in charge now are most likely more responsible.

Because it's a great stress reliever, but it's people like you who make it stressing.

benjamins. benjamins.
Hah, maybe I should have taken that part out. It's a leftover from the original text which was just meant to annoy neopets. The text has since changed quite a lot. Did you read the whole thing? You have to hook in the kids somehow.

It's just a game. Why do you stress over what I do?

hmmm..firstly i appreciate your effort in writing that petition. secondly, i am normally critical of certain parts of TNT. however, i feel that your petition may not win over players you may have won over due to some "carelessness"

Quote:
All topscorers are cheaters.

this is quite a bad starting sentence. it is too sweeping and inaccurate. i have some gold trophies and by signing that petition, i am agreeing that i cheat to get my hi-score and trophies. you may not mean to but still...

secondly, a large part of your petition focus on the upcoming portal and ISP. i totally agree with what's been said there but there's little/no elaboration especially in the area of glitches and monitoring inconsistencies.

Neopets scammed and screwed me over.

you were probably frozen/glitched/scammed but why? no explanation means your credibility is further questioned by readers.

lastly, you did not suggest some possible solutions to all that problem you perceive and how TNT can better serve us.

overall, at least i didn't find it a waste of time reading it..it's a nice change from skimming through tons of "LIEK ONG" messages in neochats and not long ago...here. ;)

hm. appears that adam and donna signed it. could very well have just been people pretending to be them, but still...
didnt i read somewhere on the neopets site, and correct me if im wrong, that neopets would always be free of popup-ads, and would always be free?
btw, this is the first i've heard of neo being sold to someone else... who owns it now?

That's true. It's another leftover bit from the "first draft" which focused much more on the cheating. Still at the end of the petition I do point out that I realize that not ALL topscorers are cheaters. Still you are right, I probably should have sat down and edited the text a bit more before posting it as a petition.

I guess I figure I don't need too much credibility on that point since it's fairly common knowledge that people get frozen unfairly and such. Hmm, that part is another leftover from the first draft which focused more on my own story and not the general problems. Maybe I should've just deleted all of the stuff from the first draft :)

Doug Dohring has essentially owned it since 2000. He bought it from Adam and Donna and then formed a corporation. I don't know if anyone knows exactly who owns Neopets stock since it is a privately-held corporation, but my guess is that, since Dohring is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors, he owns the majority of the stock.

From Neopet's' press kit regarding Adam: "Mr. Powell currently focuses on the technical and programming aspects of the Neopets website." And regarding Donna: "Ms. Williams currently focuses on the creative development and marketing of the Neopets website."

Check out the press kit for more info: http://info.neopets.com/presskit/press09a.html

42.Donna- You are all wrong; keeping a site up like neopets requires money. And as for blaming Adam and me for unfair freezing: You are wrong. Everyone who posted bad things about Adam, me and/or the entire neopets admin team will be surprised to find their accounts FROZEN when they login back to neopets.

MEEP...

ROFL!!! That's not Donna... they can't do that... they wouldn't be able to trace our IP or find out our screen names. And does anybody that high up in a business run around yelling threats in public at people? :roflol:

Hehehe... Doug just signed the petition too!

For some reason I highly doubt that is legitimate. Donna wouldn't add to the number of signatures on this petition, even if to merely state that the petition is wrong and untrue.

Well, I don't agree with most of that petition. Although Neopets has more or less admitted being more worried about their TCG ventures than updating the site *coughcoughSlothPlotcough*, the plain and simple fact is this; Every single person on PPT could refuse to play Neopets for the rest of their lives, and it would hardly make a dent in their revenue. At this point, Neopets is unstoppable. I still enjoy playing very much, despite the glitches and immersive advertising. Occasionly I get angry or perterbed at something, so I stop playing for a couple days, and then come back. No petetion is ever going to gain enough momentum to change a growing corporation's policies on making money. And good for Adam and Donna, who are making bank off a lofty college kid's dream. I wish I were so lucky.
