i was thinking about getting 1 but then decided not to since i was afraid they'd freeze the people with glitch krawks

I was Pound surfing when the whole Krawk glitch thing went around and not knowing about the glitch I actually picked-up one of the Krawks, next thing I know I've got about 10 people neomailing me telling me to get rid of it because its a glitch Krawk and if I don't I'll get frozen and directing me to the various Neoboards about it, at the time I'd already abandoned for the day too. I didn't get frozen for the 23-24 hours that I held the glitch Krawk on my account before putting it back in the Pound but I did keep my eye on it after it was gone (it stayed in the Pound for hours - a definate indication people were being cautious) and later it turned into a Tuskanninny *nodds*

I believe the glitch had something to do with the Create a Pet page. The example I was given was that people were coding their own and instead of just using say the colours to choose from being Red, Blue, Green or Yellow they added additional colours in like Plushie. Supposedly someone managed to create a Plushie Shoyru this way. Although its not directly releated to the species I assume if that security gap could have been used for a change of species as opposed to color.

Maybe it's just me, but that sounds more like a hack than a glitch.

it would take a lot of skill to hack into neopets.. its 1 thing doing it to a small site but they have TONS of servers you'd have to screw up every 1 of them :/ also they have firewall and other state-of-the-art anti hacking systems which would make it nearly impossible to crack

They 'cracked' enough to change the color of on the new pet setup, right? It's not lieke they found access to the whole site, just a hole in security that allowed them to make krawks, and maybe a plushie colored regular pet. I do believe that is classified as a hack. I could be wrong :D

I believe what stops people from duplicating most of the time is those "Oops, you've been directed here from the wrong location" errors, if Neo has failed to have them up on a certain part of the site then it would be easy enough to abuse anything using that method to duplicate.

I think one of the main things is people don't know how this "Oops, you've been directed here from the wrong location" works (afterall, would you want to experiement on it? It's going to get very very cold!) so people don't know how easy/hard it is to manipulate using some form of coding on the page you're coming from and people don't know if maybe this page glitches every once-in-awhile (like the rest of the site).

In inclined to agree with Alina on this one, I doubt that the people have actually been able to hack/crack and override the servers and scripting due to the levels of security they have protecting the site as a whole. I think its more likely they manipulated a small flaw while they've been on the site which I'd see as being closer to abusing a glitch (the only difference being is that not every Neopian and his Lupe can abuse this glitch).

Nonetheless, I don't doubt that TNT has fixed this problem so it won't happen again :)

I love wild rumors. People will claim the darnest things! I remember when somebody bought all the really cheap cheese and then claimed on the neoboard that random cheeses, when fed to your pet, will have dubloons inside. They got thier account frozen, and a lot of pets were stuffed with cheese.

Well this/these guy(s) managed to 'crack' their state-of-the-art security systems enough to glitch the create-a-pet system.

Damn, they could've made it Draiks :x
