Yes, you can sell real life merchandise, including the TG cards with the codes or the RICs that used to come with things like plushies, stickers. etc. I've never seen or heard of anyone getting any trouble for selling or buying those on ebay.

It's the virtual stuff that'll get you in trouble...like the people try to sell items (I've seen Hypno Helmets, paint brushes!); pets, np - that's what you usually see; and even accounts!

The other thing you apparently can't sell is something you've made from something on Neopets. Like the (infamous) ghost Aisha plushie someone made fromm a white one. They had to send that to TNT, they couldn't even keep it themselves. The only other one of those I remember was someone hand-knitted a Jubjub hat like one given out for advent.

Those if I see them I report to Ebay. I used to just send an email with the auction url to abuse @ neopets but that email doesn't work anymore.

The heck? You mean someone who edited a plushie that they paid for wasn't allowed to keep something that they forked out money for because they made it look like a ghost color and had to mail it to TNT? What the hell is with that?

Devkyu

I think that particular incident was simply because someone had altered an official product - "customized" it - and tried to sell it on ebay...which does infringe on their copyright.

Some companies follow through on this type of thing more than others. I remember when Sailor Moon was huge here - there were loads of people who were customizing dolls and selling them on ebay - I knew a couple of the people. They never had a moment's problem.

Neo chooses to enforce their copyright strongly, that's all. I'm sure plenty of other companies (think like Disney or Warner Bros) would too.

Whoa.. that's weird... but I can understand why they'd be against the customised plushies being sold on ebay. Do they object to us customising ones we're keeping ourselves, though?

Hmm, Stampsyne, I never even thought of that - someone selling used codes.

Well, in that case, I'd notify Ebay, give them the auction info and report it under I guess a fraudulent auction. Whether you'd get your money back I guess would depend on how you paid for it? Or how much?

As to making or customizing something just for you, I've seen some pretty amazing wonderful things in the Art Gallery on the site that people make, take pics of and send in. So I would imagine there would be no problem with that. I don't know how that works. I've never made anything ... absolutely no talent for that type of thing.

I think in the case of the aisha plushie, there were alot of people bidding on that - maybe TNT was thinking that the person would try to sell it privately? I don't know.
