see?

Key word; resemble. Too many people want neopets too look just like something else... Neopets is DIFFERENT.... get used to it :)

The reason why the Maraquan Chomby is lumpy, well...it has a hump on it's back like a camel or something. :P And it does make it look like that seahorse or nessie. XP

Idea 1: Male Faeries

This has been brought up a fair bit on the New/Unreleased thread, but I thought I'd post it here. A lot of people have been complaining that quite a few of the Faerie pets look too 'girly' (honestly, I think so what... but that's just me). Anyway,a big part of the reason could be the fact that there are no male faeries in Neopia.

So, maybe TNT so could drop the (pseudo) sexist thing, and give us a few male faeries - perhaps male versions of the elemental faeries, a Faerie King and, possibly, a trickster faerie - something like Puck from A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Idea 2: Genies

This is something I thought of a while ago - sort of as a counterpart to the faeries. Instead of introducing male faeries, I thought perhaps, TNT could leave the faeries as being female but introduce a male equivalent. The first thing that came to my mind were genies (or djinn, to be more correct).

Like the faeries, there would be elemental genies, a Genie King (or some such) and other various genies. Perhaps one that grants paintbrush wishes (sort of like the Fountain Faerie)...?

And they could come from the Lost Desert (or a submap) or have their own kingdom - most likely on the other side of Neopia.

And, of course, there could be a Genie Paintbrush. I mean, who wouldn't want their Blumaroo (randomly selected pet, btw) to lose their bottom half to a wisp of smoke that disappears into a shiny gold lamp?!

I really like these two ideas. We do need something other than the female faeries. (;

Well...I don't think I actually want to post it here (it's not very good....), but I drew a male fire faerie (I mean like I just drew it...a few mimnutes ago...).....I can pretty much only draw anime-style and I suck at hands and feet.......but he's not too bad I guess......mostly just a lot of different shades of red, orange and yellow.... Does anyone want me to actually try posting the pic? It could take a while....I'll have to scan it and everything....

i love all the maraquan pets except the kougra. i'm rather fond of the chomby, and i dislike chombies generally. they're cute, but not my type. hehe.

GATOMON POST THAT PICTURE! please.

male faeries definitely need to make an appearance, but no faerie king! neopia has quite enough kings already, but only one queen! it's not fair.

Good point... maybe we should all start harassing TNT to give us a few more queens, princesses etc.

BTW people, I would love to see some other ideas being discussed here, not just my own...

Well if there's any consideration, you don't seem to include Princess Vyssa (current ruler of Sakhmet after the Coltzan plot)

I didn't see there were no female royalty, but there really aren't very many. And Princess Vyssa tends to be a little on the quiet side...

Anywho, back to male faeries for a second. Even after I logged off yesterday, the male faerie discussion kept playing on my mind. Not because I'm addicted to neopets or anything, but partly because of the fact that some (not all) people are all too willing to dismiss the idea too easily.

Anyway, after seeing Crew's pic (which I love btw), I thought it really wouldn't be that bad if male faeries did look like that. But then, of course, there are so many people out there who would have some problem with it. Which is fine. It's a big site... you can't please everyone.

But then, last night, an idea struck me that I wish I'd thought of yesterday. I know of 2 places where you can see a perfectly acceptable, masculine male faerie: the Australian (animated) movies Fernully: The Last Rainforest and Ferngully 2: The Magical Rescue. In both, there's a male faerie named Pips (voiced by Christian Slater in the original). I haven't been able to find a decent pic of him from the movies, but here's a link to a fanart of him:

http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/fanq/p/a/paulaf2/pipsh.jpg.html

Anyway, I'd be happy if male faeries looked like him. Yea, he has long hair, but there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, he's a creature of nature, it'd be sorta weird if he cut his hair.

If I can find a pic of him from the movie, I'll post it (or a link to it)...

i LOVED the first ferngully movie. if you find a site with downloadable songs from it, PM me.
that's a great example of male faeries.

female rulers in neopia:
The Faerie Queen
Princess Vyssa

male rulers in neopia:
King Roo
King Skarl
King Coltzan (dead, but still very present, and he has a whole shrine to him!)
King Hagan
Lord Darigan

and all the tyrannian council of elders are male.
did i leave any out?

so all of you naysayers who scream that neopets is tailored for 10-year-old girls...keep that in mind. :P

as for my own idea, i think they should remove the avatar collector trophy and high score list. it would make avatars what they should be: little pictures that help make posters unique. not items to get scammed over.

Well, since no-one else is posting any new ideas...

Idea 4: Lost Desert Lenny

Yep, I know there is officially no such thing as a Lost Desert Lenny, but... yea. Anyway, I was thinking about it the other day. I like the Lenny, in general - not that I'd ever own one. But I like the way they did the revamp, with the Pink Lenny looking like a flamingo, and the Mutant Lenny looking like a vulture and so on and so forth.

Anyway, my boyfriend adores Egyptian mythology and one of his favourite gods is Thoth, who is generally represented by an ibis (and yes, I realise that's a vast over-simpilisation). And I thought, how cool would it be if there was a Lost Desert Lenny and, how great would it look if they modelled it on the ibis?

Or, alternatively, on the benu... which is some sort of bird that my boyfriend is always drawing... and it has the same tail feathers as the Lenny.

Anywho... more ideas people, please. This was never meant to be a male faerie debate thread...

*thinks perhaps he should go make one*

You know what I always thought would be cool? Something in the bank that showed how much you deposited or withdrawn for the day. It doesn't have to be 2 numbers, just one. If you withdrew more than you deposited it would be a negative number. If you deposited more than withdrew it would just be a plain positive number. And once the day is over it would reset itself. I just thought it would help people save np more easily when they see how much they've made or lost. Puts things in perspective.

I could definitely use something like that. I'm desperately trying to save for... something, maybe a Grey Paintbrush... but I have a terrible habit of spending more than I save, because I withdraw money for something and then I either forget to top it back up, or I don't put enough back in.

At least this way, I'd know how much I needed to make on a game (or whatever) in order to get myself back into positive numbers...
