I already had the avatar and the third-place trophy. I want a gold or silver!

new ones out :o

An anonymous Neopian recently acquired a very large number of marbles. So many, that he had enough to give two marbles to every Kiko in Neopia.

Not knowing what else to do with the marbles, the Kikos decided to stack them up into a 3-sided pyramid to see how high it can get. Note that every level of the pyramid is 2 cm high.

If every Kiko in Neopia uses its marbles, how many centimeters tall can the pyramid get?

Finally a math one..

There are 1,050,311 kikos, I have no clue where to go next, I thought there was an equatioin for this sort of thing but I forgot it

Edit: But there are only supposed to be 1,050,000 kikos O_o. Maybe only one answer works..

Well, 1,050,311 x 2 is probably the next step...

Yeah, now we need to figure out how many rows we can make then multiply it by 2

Aah! How do you do this? I'm doing it the LONG way. Like 2 hours long. :P I forget the formula for this.

Think about it-

If it's 1 marble long platform, then it's 1 marble
2, and it's 4
3, and it's 10

Carry on, and there's a formula that relates to the length of one side, and the volume. If you don't want to work it out yourself, you can google for it (just look up 'marble pyramid', and it'll eventually come up).

Once you've got this equation (careful, it's got cube numbers), you'll have xs in the place of side-length. Just work it out. You'll probably have to use an online calculator for this too, since there's three possible answers (but two of them include imagonary numbers, so only one is 'real')

When you have your width, it'll probably be a decimal. Think about weither you'll be rounding it down or up.

Now use the equation to find the volume of a pyramid from its height and base-area. Then you can reshuffle it all to get the height from the base-area and volume. Remember to times by two at the end, since each marble is two high.

...
...

... Just typing this out, I see where I went really wrong >.<

Damn you, Lenny connundrum!

Lol. I was going to do it that way (o_0), but I figured it'd take forever to get up to 2 million. I'm googling pyramid equations. If only Tim's sister was online. She minored in math. :(

:P I've done it this way for 100 layers so far. :o 1/10 there! :P

And it's a 3-sided one. ;) Not 4 sided.
The first layer has 1, then 3, then 6, then 10, etc.

EDIT: Now I've counted 200k! Yay!!! :P
