Maybe it's time for TNT to learn how to do sticky posts and put one at the top of every chat board, that reads "Chain letters do not work...read inside!" People seem not to read the rules of the boards, but they obviously don't hesitate to click and post on every thread they see on the page. Maybe if the greedy New Member could be tricked into thinking it's a thread, they'd actually take note of it.

Just a thought.

Excellent idea. Every user should be able to post on those stickies once a week to have their questions addressed- I think that it could work.

I don't think they should do that. They should just make a massive FAQ that address everything immaginable on the rules. It should be 100% searchable. I know they have an FAQ now, but it's very vague and outdated.

Now I am starting to get sick of the chain letters in the trading post.
I want someone to start trades saying
"Put this message in your trades to stop chain letters.
The type this in ten trades doesn't work.
It has been approved by neopets that it doesn't work."
I need to take a stand now.
This is making me ANGRY!

Doesn't that just defeat the purpose though?

Gone, forever.

I find that the best way to stop them is to neomail the person who's posting chain letters and politely tell them to stop, and why it would be in their benefit to stop. Most likely they'll apologize and even thank you. It may seem like a lot of work, but reporting them doesn't really help much. I'd rather see if I can get them to stop in an instant than send a report to TNT and have the chain letter poster post 9 more times before they're warned or frozen. Just think that for every one you stop, you stop 10 more from starting.

CrewWolf, I do the same exact thing! And it almost always works. I usually get a Neomail back from the offender, thanking me and telling me that they didn't know better.

I don't ever report for small stuff. I usually just ignore it, or send a polite Neomail. The only things I report are grossly offensive posts, obvious scams, and attempts to gain others' passwords. Life's too short to worry about the small stuff, IMHO. :)

Looking to buy Snowbunny Stamp and Sticky Snowflake Stamp. If you're selling, please PM me!

I don't report chain letters ... not worth it, IMHO. At the same time, I've pretty much stopped either trying to neomail or let the person know on the board itself to not post them. Why? I've been seeing way too many warnings/freezings of people doing that very thing. They'll post something like "Please don't post chain letters. They don't work and you could get reported" - something like that. Next thing Bam! The person trying to help gets a warning or worse. And the one posting the chain letters is merrily off posting them on every board they can find.

For awhile I think there was a filter? It seemed like they really slowed down. But now they're worded just a little differently, so maybe the original filter won't work? Neo does try to stop those, and yes, it is posted on the wall of shame and maybe the chat rules? Will have to check that again. The chat rules are so much clearer and easier to read than the T&C. They should take that format and make us up a good FAQ.

Actually having something "sticky" on the top of each board is a very good idea. People don't go read the rules, no matter what you tell them. A sticky subject in their faces on every board may just get through - to at least some people.

Either that or put something on the front of each board, like the no pool thing on the av board.

i've sent in the request twice now to the editorial, asking for a statement at the top of the message board page and, especially, the trading post page, saying very clearly not to post those types of messages, and that they do NOT work.

no answer. maybe we should all write in.

That FAQ thing is a great idea. I'll start one on PPT in relation to do's and don'ts for neo rules.
