There are so many people complaining about neopets now that it actually makes me like neopets more.

I don't agree with your petition. You make it sound as if neopets does nothing for us. They don't give us new games to play, new items, new pets, new colors, new battledome challengers, and so many more things. As if they don't update the news 5 days a week. As if all the site is is a bunch of ads. Like there is nothing that isn't sponser related.

And nobody is forcing anyone to pay for anything. And I still haven't seen any proof that you do get extra things when you play. I heard that the avatar was just the I Love Neomail one.

I don't understand how "Neopets scammed and screwed" you either. What did they take from you?

I'm sure neopets does a lot for us. Does that mean we can't try to change the things that are wrong? It surprises me how a lot of people think that loving neopets means you have to ignore the faults and just accept how it is. Things can be better. If you love neopets then you want to try to make them better. Maybe it's just me. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and so is ugly and I know that I see negative things more than the positive. But still, with all these people complaining I can't be the only one who sees the bad.

You do get extra things for paying. Look at the premium link when it's not down because all of today's trials have been taken. I can't remember right now if it's the isp service or the premium service but there was a nice sign saying something like
$14 1000 np a month
$16 2000 np a month
$20 10000 np a month.
(quoted from memory, the figures might be way off)
And there are the extra random events.
It's not like you can buy millions of neopoints of course. But it's just another slide down the slippery slope. Also it will be interesting to see if premium accounts are handled differently. If a paying costumer gets frozen unfairly will neopets still not reply to them? If you get frozen can you make a new account or do you need to pay up again? Will the premium.neopets.com server be less prone to glitches and downtime?

They changed the colour of my pet. That might seem laughable to people but I was a fresh little innocent guy who just loved my pet and I was devastated. And that of course started off on the greed thing because now I had to make 3-40.000 np to get a paintbrush to get my pet back. That was a huge sum for me. Later on I got much more np and then they cleaned out my bank even though I did nothing wrong. And then they froze my account, but by then I had done something wrong. I'm no saint, but this isn't about my story anyway. That's how it started, because I had a grudge against neopets. But the petition is much more now, general things that affect everyone. My inbox is full of emails from people and most of them agree with me and thank me for making them aware of some of these things (I in turn have to thank pinkpt for making me aware :) )
I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but as far as I can tell nothing in the petition is a lie, nothing is wrong. It's just a matter of some people accepting the state of neopets and some not.

You lost all credibility--at least with me--by saying with that right there.

Ask anyone right here if I don't get upset with Neopets and quit every so often because of the glitches. But I would never, ever intentionally do something that was against the rules just to "get back" at Neopets. Because you aren't hurting Neopets when you do something like that, you are hurting your fellow users--innocent people who did absolutely nothing to you.

And, to correct you, actually this petition is about "your story." After seeing that you broke rules to get revenge, I wouldn't think of signing it.

i read the petition.

i rather like the "immersive advertising." i think it's the most polite form of making money on the internet. i'd rather see the occasional sponsor game and sidebar ad than pop-ups. it's considerate, not brainwashing.

Yes but how old are you. It's been shown repeatedly that younger childern have a lot of difficultly distinguishing between advertisments and content. Ususaly they can't do it at all, especialy on the web. By blurring that line even further immersive advertising makes the product part of the content. It's been shown to work extreamly well. And honestly while I certainly play sponser games I'm also old enough that they don't have such a profound effect on me. It's a very shady advertising tactic and consumers advocates have been working to try and prevent if from being used to market to children.

Thad being said, I'd rather have sponser games than regular ads, because, I can distinguish between them and because I like easy np. Personaly though, I'm botherd by the inclusion of real-life products, as well as of buildings like mcdonalds and cearal adventure because they're annoying and out of pace with the rest of the enviroment

But i've digressed

you make a lot of really good points in there, but you may want to rethink your wording and questionable points (like your finger-pointing at adam).

in the real world, effective petitions are not harshly worded, but are professional, well-researched, and use a reasonable tone. you may want to do the same.

I agree with your assessment of the petition (good points, poorly worded). However, at this point it can't be changed. I've seen this before with legitimate petitions that for one reason or another have had a spelling error. The work needed to get it fixed is immense since it is (for obvious reasons) quite illegal to change the wording of a petition after people have already signed it.

That's fair enough. I disagree with you however. Lots of people don't have any problems agreeing with what the petition says without knowing my story one way or another. The petition ISN'T about my story. I don't see how you can say it is. I intentionally left the story out of the text, I only put it here after a couple of people asked. The petition (or rather the original, old, text) might have been fuelled by my frustration with neopets but that doesn't change the facts in it. But if you feel I'm untrustworthy then of course you shouldn't sign it. I would rather you debate what's in it than who wrote it though.

Online petitions aren't going to have much effect on Neopets.

If you really want to do something, try a pink letter campaign.

Write a letter to Neopets addressing your concerns and how you think they could resolve it. Send this letter in a brightly colored envelope (Pink works). Post your letter on Neopets-related forums. Urge other people do the same.

Online petitions are always tainted by people signing as Adam, Donna, or some other figurehead (George Bush or the Pope). With the letter, it will at least feel personal.

Well, i know i don't agree with paying for Neopets but i may end up paying for the premium package. I mean, if it's something like $10 a month or less i would be more than willing to pay to get a better service of Neopets, maybe an advantage...because people pay for there high-speed broadband connections and stuff for restocking(maybe not just for restocking) which comes to like $30+? And thats there advantage.

$10 a month to me isn't alot, maybe to a few of you. And even if it's not a lot some parents won't trust the internet and buy the package for there kids right?

And i agree, i think it will get divided up into seperate players. Rich and the poor :)

Well no, she was staff wasn't she? And plus, more of us talk in the bd chat together...what if Neo made a board only for premium members? So there would be no New Member or scammers or other things like 'i'm 10 and i'm pregnant' on it...just separting everything...

The only thing I really want to see changed, is the freezing policy. Getting frozen based on how many people report you isn't fair. They're too trigger happy. If they don't have the time to legitimately freeze someone, they shouldn't do it.

I certainly AGREE, I/ve been frozen 3 times UNFAIRLY and never got a response from neopets (except when there was teh glitch in april, but i didnt mention that) they should completly change it

Marc's username on Neopets is major_spike... Some people really aren't that bright. Either that or they think the whole idea of a petition is a joke... 0:)

I don't see why there wouldn't be any New Members. They can pay if they want to. Same with scammers, though I would imagine that TNT would probably moniter the board better. :x

I didn't mean that people shouldn't try to change things. I said that you make neopets horrible. As if they just sit around playing TCG, working on merchindise and putting ads on the site, which they don't.
