I honestly don't believe the 'big name' artists are the best on Neo.
And I have my own reasoning behind that.

I think Neo needs to put a cap on how many times you can win an Art gallery in a row.
I can go on there and CONTINUALLY spot names that I recognize as getting in, time and time again. Ane to be honest, all I can think about is how unfair that is.
I work hard on the pictures I do, and that i've done to try to get them in. And they don't.
And it's... upsetting when I see what I consider to be inferior work get into the gallery continually.

Okay, obviously, not the best. I just made this entire paragraph saying how there are some really good artists out there who don't even bother entering the AG, and whose art could easily even surpass Neo's art.

Its a bit unfair also for people to be getting in consistently, but seriously, would you rather that or the unibrow picture *raises eye and points at it*

As I continually say, the same people who sometimes get in are NOT bumping your place. There is as much chance that that bad piece of artwork is bumping it or the copied work instead of someone who's name you see occasionally on. My friend likes to think that I sometimes bump out her art on the AG and doesn't like me submitting - same idea. If you actually sit down and think about it, the chances of that are.. really slim. There are PAGES of featured days, a person occupies ONE space.

Sorry to sound bitter or arrogant or anything, but I'm sure your artwork is in its own right awesome. IF you're not getting in, maybe its time to change your plans and rearrange your drawings into a pattern that the AG likes.

I'm not a conformist by nature, but the picture I did get in, was far from being what I normally do. But i'm not going to go on that tangent, because thats not my point.
It's not just me, whose had this problem with continual rejection. There are people doing equally good art, or better then what gets into the gallery who don't get in as well. It's the fact that Neo continually ignores these people that makes me tick.
As I said before, i've just given up on entering. Why should I continually put my art on the line to be judged if I know i'm not going to win?
I really do not mean this in offense to you or to anyone else, and I feel that you may have taken my post in such a way. I'd just like to see other artists get a chance.
I'm not saying that i'm angry at you, or that you're stealing my spot in the gallery, why would I say that? Thats not how my brain thinks. But theres two, three, four? AG's a week? And how many specials in a month? Do people really need to be chosen for nine strait AGs in a row?
Ask yourself honestly, is that fair?


(p.s Have you been to Rome? It's quite lovely. I must admit the Piata made me cry, not to mention that the Romans themselves are hillarious. They've got a great sense of humor.)

T_T I wish I did. I went to uhm.. that place in Italy - oh, Milan and it was so pretty! But that's as close as I got to there. ._o; I'm also taking roman and greek mythology as a course in university so lots of controversy there >P

Yeah, I understand your resentment. Personally, I think the AG's doing a much better job keep entries varied than before. I haven't seen ANYONE get in as you say, eight times in a row in the past couple of months. Where were you last year when the "big names" always got in EVERY single AG featured guaranteed? XD;

Nah, check out the most recent usul day. How many names can you recognize there are people who "consistently get in"? Maybe a couple but I think they're making an effort. And yes, they need to hire more people to monitor it. Think how hard it is to go through hundreds of AG entries, make sure they're not copied, and make sure it isn't the same person submitting hundreds of pictures at once or submitting the same picture again.

One of the problems could be... after a brief moment of reflection, inspired by your last statement, is the volume of people who submit their entries multiple times.
Maybe an idea would be that once you've submitted an entry ONCE for a day, thats it. Thats the only time you can submit for that day. (excluding of course, if you have to resize a picture because you aren't able to submit). Something like how the LC or Mystery Pic is run. One shot only.
To me at least, this would seem more fair.
Rather then flooding the gallery with entry after entry, which if it's run, I suppose could give the person whose multiply submitting a higher chance of getting in.
Milans airport was nice, so was the last supper. I prefer Venice or Firenze myself.

But you have to understand how disheartening it is to see the same people get in again and again. Think about it.
On a personal note, i'm in my second year of my BFA. I'm slowly sliding the way of illustration for a living, or at least as a secondary living ontop of a career as an artist, not an art teacher, an artist. And i'm sorry, but I honestly do feel bitter and jaded, when my work is continually not let in.
Now whats worse, is that people who do get in multiple times (Not you, i'm thinking of someone else, who I'm not going to name), do work... that is inferior SEVERELY inferior to work that they have done before, and yet it still gets in.

And I have to ask...
A few months ago, someone got into the same AG twice in the same day... was that you? My memories a bit hazy to tell truth.
I don't feel the gallerys any better off then it was a few months ago. *shakes head* i've been watching, I see the same names pop up again, and again. And I mean, it's not that i'm trying to attack you (honestly it's not), but *kicks TNT* why the heck can't I get in?!

Which is something I don't even feel to be superior to the rest of my art, to tell truth, I find it rather inferior to what I do normally.
The only reason I feel it got in, in the first place, is that it was computer graphically generated, while the rest of my stuff is not.
And I HATE creating computer art.

It's over a year old now. *shrugs* Could most likely do far better at this point in time.

I have to say Neo is doing a much better job lately varying different applicants. I myself submits an entry for almost every pet day if I have time, and lately I haven't been able to get in for a while. As I said earlier my last entry was on Korbat day so yeah. I do get angry though, when someone submits 8 pictures on different accounts and ALL OF THEM got in That happened once on Gelert day I think, somone got in with 5 accounts That just stopped 4 other person to have their place in the AG, but what can you do? :/

I suspect Neo chooses a no. of pics from a certain age group, then move on to the next one, that's why we sometimes see awful pictures in there, they could be the work of a 10 yr old, you never know. Anyway I'm not going to talk any further on this subject, good luck to everyone aiming for Bruce Day

AH! THAT DRAIK PICTURE! Its the one that got in on the same page as my draik picture I believe XD; *pokes it* I remember cause I was commenting on how there was another maraquan draik picture on that day (back when maraquan draiks just came out).

o_O I have never gotten in for two of the same picture in one day. A lot of other people have, but it would be unfair to name them.

That's so cool - an art major. I really want to change to do art as education major or something but I'm stuck doing a psych major right now :/ What the heck does psych have to do with art anyway?

Personally I think your art is awesome and that it should not be ONLY compared to the happy! lovey dovey picture on neopets. To give you an idea:

im entering my handrawn (tablet drawn) picture for beauty contest and i checked last weeks winners and only like featheralley and a few others had decent pictures...the rest are just recoloured... :S

And thankyou. Yes that is my draik picture, and it made me happy at the time. (on my computer screen it looks slimey, on my other computer screen it looks really dark.) So despite it being old I guess some part of me is proud of it.

Of course, my memories like a siv, and i'm lazy so i'm not going to go searching to find out who. And I can't remember who it was... but I know it really made me tick at the time. I must've entered for that day or something.

Looking back, yes I remember your entry for that day. *smiles* I was like "Hey! I did a maraquan draik! That one looks... cute... " *shrugs* It was a good drawing though.

I just find it odd. Because i've done happy fluffy... critters. And they don't get in. *goes to root around* Though admitedly they may not have taken as long as the draik to color (because he was evil. *shifty eyes* as I said, I hate computer art)

Not mine. When mine would have arguably (<- is that even a word? And if it is, did I spell it right?) would have been one of the stronger ones in the group.
FOUR pages of drawings for Tuskaninnys. Thats 48 spots. Someone got in twice... (thats why it irked me, because I had tried for that day) it's just...

I don't admit defeat easily, i'm an proud (arrogant), person, but after awhile, seeing other peoples art get chosen over mine is just too much. I can't handle continual rejection without reasoning behind it. It's just too much.
So i've given up on entering the gallery. Theres better things I suppose that I could be doing with my time anyways. (Like studying for my exams... and eating).
If you can't tell, I take my art extremely seriously, and... I do this kind of art for fun, and when it's what I do for fun thats slammed, it's painful.
*shrugs*

And I like your sad looking Dariagan (Dariagon? I havn't checked lately), lupe. He should've gotten in, because in my eyes, thats a deserving piece of work.
