that idea would be great its just that instead of giving the items to anyone not on the frozen list (maybe the suspension list too) and the people who haven't logged in for like 6 months or even 8-12 months that way they don't sit there then when the person decides all of a sudden to log back in would find a 3 mil item and sells it and becomes rich.

But yes what people do should be punished and only the people who have been frozen for 6-12 months should have there stuff taken.

I like your idea, but those uber rich accounts have uber rare items. I dont think handing them out to random people is a good idea. I mean, handing out something that is worth no more than 100k might be good, I just think that there will be too many "rags to riches" accounts.

Perhaps with the higher rarity items, you would have them stock in the smugglers cove?

Actually, the same sort of thing happened back when the TP glitch occurred in November 2003--all of the items sitting on the TP went to various users at random. Some people realized the fortune they had sitting in front of them, while others didn't have a clue and sold them for way less than market value. Which happens all of the time. Lots of those items sitting on the TP were uber rare--because back them, the TP was the safest place to store your items (and there were no rules about being only for trades, etc.).

Sure, there might be some rags to riches accounts because of this, but having more of a rare item in circulation will cause prices to drop. However, is still better than having the stuff sitting locked away forever and unaccessible to its players.

And, actually, it is beneficial to Neopets. Some people (like me) only continue to play in an attempt to complete their galleries. And, some of those same people give up playing altogether because the prices right now are just too outrageous--they finally realize that it is a futile attempt, etc. You have no idea just how many plushie collectors have quit collecting or quit playing because of this. If Neo recirculates those rare, rare items, people might want to keep playing Neopets. And keep looking at those sponsor ads--if you get my drift. And, to be honest with you all, I think Neo is losing more players than gaining right now. Why else would we have all these sudden changes in policy--returning lost items, suspending accounts? I mean, after all, when is the last time you saw Neopets brag in the news about breaking the record of most page views, most players, most accounts? They might be softening up a bit in order to keep us playing.

Shapu, I think your idea is absolutely wonderful! I will be sending an e-mail (or two or three or ten) to TNT regarding this seeing as everyone on this board also thinks this is a great idea. I hope they seriously consider implementing it.

I like the idea of rags-to-riches, personally.

I'm sorry, but I think this is an awful idea. I understand that you have good intentions, and to most players it sounds like a great idea. However, to those who have spent the time and effort to attain rare and expensive items it is insulting to give them out for nothing. It took me several months to save up for a jade scorchstone, and now a total newbie gets one just for logging in? It just isn't right to make all the time and effort put into the game completely worthless.

missed the point entirely i see?
you wont miss the item, because you wont have an account to use it on!

still, a "chance for a better item the older youre account" thing might be a nice idea, not to say a newbie shouldnt get a jade scorchstone, but New Member's should have the chance too.

In Powerpets (I signed up but rarely plays it, unless extremely bored), they hold silent auctions for boxes with items inside the box. These items are from frozen accounts.

I just don't know how would they distribute the items randomly, how will they judge who has been good or who has been bad. Maybe it would be better also if some of the 'lost' items due to freezing be distributed as prizes in some of Neopet's contests.

I do like the idea of all those items that are sitting in frozen, never-to-be-unfrozen accounts released again and put back into circulation.

No. 13, I see your point, too. But if, heavens forbid, you were frozen, you were told you would not get your account back because of whatever they said you did wrong goes here and/or the account's been frozen for over a year - you're not going to get that account back 99.99999% of the time. There are exceptions, but they are few and far between.

The only way something like this could really work is if a frozen account is definitely over a year old, the account is definitely not going to be returned to the owner - so it seems to me that there would need to be some staff dedicated to this to make sure that everything was done correctly. Given that most of us I think would agree there already doesn't seem to be enough staff compared to players, that would be a concern. Hire more staff? Great! Would they? Doubtful.

Not the money tree though, no matter what - if TNT decided to implement something like this. I agree that it's only people with fast internet (and alot of people who don't need whatever they get) who are actually able to grab anything. In over 2 years I've never gotten a thing from the money tree.

Thinks about getting an email, clicking a link and finding, say, an H4K or T-Tear or MoC *sigh* Hey, I can dream can't I?!

I dont like the give out the times randomly. I think they should have a new shop that sells off the frozen items. Items would cost 90% of their estimated value or something like that. They wouldnt automatically go their, they would go there after around three months of frozeness or something like that. That helps keep prices down somewhat, but does not make someone instantly rich. However, it still wouldnt help get the price back to normal. A jadeSS is vitally important in any battleset. Thus any serious battler wants one. As the number of "experinced battlers" is growing, and the number of JadeSS is slowly shrinking, even if it doesnt shrink anymore, the price will still rize.

As a shop-wiz sniper, I think giving rare items to newbies is an EXCELLENT idea

*dreams of finding Moehog Skull for 99999 NP*

Instead of a random person, how about a random NeoFriend? That would be closer to the real-life idea of inheritance...

Very brilliant idea 8)

That is pretty unfair to anyone without a fast connection. It is already harder for people with slow connections to earn Neopoints than people with fast connections. Giving them out would be fair for people with slow connections who can't restock or aution snipe.

They can't, however, measure the connection speed of a particular user in order to assess what items they should get. It would be a socialistic sort of system if it was completely, randomly handed out to people, and it would encourage poorer people to report richer people in hopes of getting them frozen so the items would be distributed. If it HAD to be given out, then still do it randomly or have the items be prizes for contests.
