You must know how many people are on the site at any given time every single day.. do you have any idea how many pageviews that is every second? :] What the counter+1000 means is that it increments the pageview counter by 1000 once every 1000 pageviews.

Adding 1 to the counter every single time would mean the site would be doing 1000x the work, and you do want it to load as fast as possible, right?

I doubt that, because everyone who has seen this text (and I personally have seen it many times now) has had the +1000 thing, and I know for a fact that I haven't done 1000 pageviews in between getting two instances of the text - in fact I got it twice a few days ago, with only two pages in between the two.

I'm guessing that is because it has glitched. The very fact that you can see it means it isn't supposed to be there and it isn't doing its job.

Anyway I haven't seen it in a while, I'm guessing it's all fixed up again. Must have been because they were changing so many thing recently =)
