I'm guessing that after they close submissions, they can make a little table from 0-100 and find the percentages for each.. then find the one where the percentage and number are the closest.

I see I was one week early on my "pick a random number" comment. They decided to give us the "super hard" one this week.

super hard == wild guess to TNT. I made my wild guess. If there actually is suppose to be some logic behind this one, it escapes me. :)

What if 99% of the people answers 99, and 1% answers 1? Would both answers be correct? Then 100% will get it correct :) And thus, wrong.

TNT didn't think properly..

I'm just totally confused... TNT is getting short of ideas by the second...

The Next LC:

Since the last LC was not very fair (Only one person got it right). We will make it fairer.

The question is:
How many users has more than one account?

Next two week's LC:

Suprisingly, no one got last week's Lenny Connodrum right!

This week's questions is:
How many users in Neopets are under 13?

Well, you could probably map this out on a normal distribution graph of frequency, or some other probability distribution. The mean would fall closest to 50%, so a guess around there. However, a guess below 50% is probably the most likely to win. But also make it higher than 10%, because it's unlikely that

Also, there IS a way to find a right answer. The solution of 99% of people guessing 99 and 1% guessing 1 is practically impossible, because there is always the random element that will guess something else and one side or the other will be closer to the percentage than the other. However a solution is impossible until judgement.

And when I said I gave up on the MP, I do have a 3rd place trophy, but I don't think I can get higher than that no matter how hard I try. Well, I could give up my life to score higher, but I'm starting to grow attached to it! :>

Well, be glad that everybody isn't guessing 0%. Wouldn't that be a fun paradox?

maybe the answer is in binary. That way there are only two possible answers??

Both have the potential to be correct, but then it could just be whichever one they want to choose as the correct answer cause both work. I put in a number that's way too high, but now that I think about it, it's probably around 2-4%. I really doubt it's anything above 10%.

The logic of this question is mind boggling. And a fair number of people will guess 1% but then it won't be 1% since 80% will guess 1% so only the few that guess 20% will get it right but that will only be about 1%.
and so the paradox continues

it could never be 0%, because then it would be correct, thus -> 1 % :P

i submitted something low, though joltmupp made a good point that might create some confusion :)

Payoff cannot be too high. People can just guess because the number is between 0 and 100.

I'm fairly certain the answer is either 1 or 100 logically.

If they're actually going to have the answer be what percent of people answered correct, there's no way of knows :o

At leas the pot will be spilt up between like 100 people this time.

edit: I guessed 1

The more I think about this, the more confusing it becomes.

I presume that what they mean is: if 5% of the people guess 5%, then 5% is the right answer.

The problem emerges if there is no unique correct answer.

For example, if 5% of the people guess 5% and 10% of the people gues 10% and there are no other "correct" answers -- meaning answers where X% of the people guessed X%. Then 15% of the people got the queston right. Meaning only the people who guess 15% actually got it right. But either more or less than 15% of the people guessed 15% (by stipulation). Which means that 15% of the people didn't get the question correct.

So what does that mean? Maybe no one got the question right, Meaning 0% of the people got the correct answer. Which means that anyone who guessed 0% got the question right. Which means that (probably) more than 0% of the people got the question right. Which means that 0% isn't the correct answer...

Urk.
