Wow, Morningstar, that theory makes a lot of sense. Look up Neopox pizza and look up the owners of the dead shops. They're all 45-50 months. Most of them have no last seen date. And look at 3pinay15angel86's (a person whos shop was dead) guild. It has 2 members on the council and says that it has 1 member in the guild. Has anyone on PPT actually had their shop die?

Although my shop didn't die, I do recall that there was someone on PPT who had their shop "disappear" and so did another family member's I believe. I'm afraid I can't remember who though, or if it was ever really resolved. This is one of those times I curse my horrible memory.

I don't know about the dead shops being a decoy. Maybe some are, but I thought they had some database problem and were slowly fixing people's shops. The main board I hang out on, someone posted to the effect that "finally, they fixed my shop, and people bought all my old, under-priced items."

What would Honor do?

I'm sure some of them are from the database problem, but there are some dead shops where the users don't have any info under "last spotted" etc...so maybe just those shops are decoys?

Actually, that might have been me. My husband's lupe gallery disappeared as did my daughter's shop. But both came back within days. Another PPT member's shop disappeared but it also came back--though was a few weeks later--that was PPTer ystava. I know of several big namers who had shops disappear and eventually they did come back--even featheralley's shop was gone for quite a while. And eventually it returned.

And, what I find really interesting in all of this--is that the items in the shops of xmas_in_july and bacardi42 both disappeared during that time period. And both shops appeared to return intact (though only they would know for sure). And now both of them are frozen. Maybe coincidence--maybe they got noticed by Neo when they filed a bug report. Who knows?

Well, I really have no input, but I must say, this is a very interesting topic. Thought 99% of it sounds like conspiracy theory, it's still pretty interesting reading all the comments. :)

Maybe it was me? My husband's shop disappeared for 18 days the first time before it returned. It returned intact. Then it disappeared a while later again for a couple weeks. It finally returned the second time, but all the items were gone. It disappeared again for a couple days and when it reappeared, the items were still gone. We didn't put anything in it and just waited, while sending bug reports, like everyone suggested, but the items didn't come back. Finally, last week Tim decided to just move on. It's been months since this had originally started. I mean, how long should we really have to wait? He never even got one response from support. -.-

My shop stock disappeared in that same glitch -- in July right? I lost over 100 petpets, some of them unbuyable. My stock never came back.

That's terrible! Moral of story: Don't put valuable items for display in your shop.

There was once when I lost some unpriced items from my shop. When I mailed TNT, they said that my shop was being transferred to a new database, and that I would get my items back soon. Sure enough, the items were returned to my shop 1-2 days later.

The reason they were in my shop was because I wanted to sell them. In my shop blog it stated that if someone was interested in the over 100k items they should neomail me and I would put them in the TP/auctions. At first I kept them in the TP, but they kept eating the food in my inventory!

Oh, Jas, he never got them back? :( Poor guy. That's pretty much the reason my husband has quit playing--he lost his gallery for about 3 days. It returned, but his attitude was that someday it would disappear forever and there would be no recourse to get it back. So, why bother investing so much time into something that could be randomly taken away in a blink of an eye? And, it must have really had an impact on my hubby--because he was quite the Neo-aholic.

Yes I did get my main shop back, but they never restored the stock in my secondary shop, I requested it a few more times, but then they started on the multiple account rules, and it seemed like the new multiple account rules implied we weren't supposed to have multiple shops, so I was afraid to keep asking for my other stocks back, so my other shop will remain empty for now.

One thing to note is that these shops didn't disappear, only the inventory disappeared. I'm not aware of anybody talking about having their shop disappear from their user lookup entirely. Only heard of ppl saying their shop went empty.

ystava, I am sorry--that is what I meant. I didn't clarify. It was my hubby's shop items that disappeared--and same with the big players that I had mentioned. Which is completely different from the shops that aren't there on those dead accounts currently on the shop wiz.

And, I am really sorry to hear that you didn't get your items back in your secondary shop, ystava. I don't understand Neo's reasoning behind their no-returns policy. It truly makes the game unfair--and they bend over backwards, supposedly, in their pretending to be fair.

I talked to one of the people with that problem *through neomail* and they seemed to exist. There's also the problem where items randomly will be in the shop and priced but won't appeaar on the shop front. So I really think those shops are independent of any neo schemes. The reason people don't complain is that a) often you can't tell unless you go view your own shop front and b) that it's not alllways the same peoples shops. It's one person and then theirs gets fixed and it's someone else. At least that's my opinion

My sympathies to everyone who's had more permanant shop problems

I really like that theory, Morningstar. Could TNT be that clever and... sneaky? o_O

I've stumbled onto these shops myself, but not often.

Well, assuming this theory is true (which isn't too likely), since these people were resellers and had huge shops, they probably did a lot of this. If you're looking for some 50 different items and doing it for hours, what are the odds you'll remember every dead shop?

But, then again, they may have been frozen for no reason. Who knows?

But if that other girl (the one who is really famous on neopets) got her account back and everything when there were glitches because she's one of those uber-players, wouldn't it make sense for TNT to be friends with these others? They were uber-players too, weren't they? I can understand discriminating against a regular player for an uber-player, but playing favorites between uber-players?

-Sailoranime, who just likes saying her new word; 'Uber-player'.

Happy with Neopets

I guess the reason for tnt to not return items that have gone missing from a shop is that they have no way to find out what items they were. Once data's gone, it's gone. And one could send screenshots but of course those prove nothing at all. I could easily make a fake screenshot that shows hundreds of paintbrushes in my store...

Shouldn't it be 'Über-player' then? :P
