I have read all of the arguments and still think it is a great idea.

One suggestion that might be able to alleviate the logistics and lag that a few people brought up: Why not pattern it after a freebie, like the advent calendar? On the 5th day of each month, you can visit the "Confiscated Goods" guy. Only once. And with the restrictions that your account must be at least X days old and that it is limited to one account per person--just like the other freebies. You might get a sinsis sword or you might get a pile of dung, who knows. That way it is completely random with no auctionsnipers or autobuyers to deal with.

Sure, you will get a few cheaters--but Neo could keep a close check on it during that day to see if an IP went to it 10 times and then freeze the accounts on that IP address for multi-accounting.

That's a good idea too. I suppose if TNT were to use this idea it would depend on which method would be easier for them to code, and which they felt would be more fair. This idea is a good one because it's similar to the shrine and other dailies. Great idea. :)

Hi there,

Thanks for your suggestion! We really love to get feedback from our players. As you most probably know we are continually updating the site and we try to add as many suggestions from our players as possible.

Muhahaha!!!

I also got one from my locked thread (Which I won't name) from her. But I believe this is the faster then when the Lettlemen Campaign (still going on, check NNV) Email I sent.

I hope everyone has sent mails :) <3

Yeah, but everyone knows you can't trust the estimated value!
Unless the estimated value was set to sync with the shop wiz's average price for the item, but then uber-rare items like certain paintbrushes would all be priced at 100k :P

Let me give you an example:

Spooky Teasure Map
Est value: 1,375 NP
Real Value: over 6k

Bag of Peanuts
Est value : 581 NP
Real Value: over 70k

And that's just a few examples. I also assume that retired HT items keep the same Est value they had when they were in the HT, so a Faeire PB would be worth 200k according to this system, right?

Yes you can, at the levels we're talking about the EST Value is valued over 100,00 NP ++

I'm saying keep only the good things and mix them in with 49 bad things for every good thing

Back to distribution: Having a constantly-updating shop WOULD be a drain on the servers. Like I said, I don't mind secret-box auctions.

It's actually far more draining on the servers to have to send Neomails for every item given out than to have a programme adding one item into a shop everytime one item is bought from that shop. The money tree requires more server space than that to work as it needs to take into account all the donated items + random events + items being taken where's the mystery shop would involve a huge list of items with 49 piles of dung for every good item (As an example) and the shop taking the top one and adding it to the shop everytime one of them gets bought

I'm loving Morningstar's idea of making it similar to the Advent Calendar. Or it could be worked into the existing Tombola, where if you get a winning ticket the prize is from a frozen account instead of a newly generated item. Though that might inflate the price of codestones, as the Tombola currently brings new ones into the economy.

Well, Tombola often gives out multiple items. It could be "random Tombola item (codestone, faerie, gross foods, etc) + frozen account item + np" or whatnot. That would keep codestone inflation down :)

But they'll have to monitor the accounts and IPs closely, because people WILL create new accounts for this. And that will lead to freezing, which can lead to more items in the "vault". :P

Anywho, I think the best one so far of handing these out is by Neomail. Maybe TNT will only send neomails to online/active users? Like they're online and actually clicking something.

The best way to hand out these items from frozen accounts would be to have a page that will offer you the item and if you don't collect it within a month the offer is taken away for someone else, that way inactive accounts won't be flooded with jades or H4ks :)

Hey, I actually like the idea of it being in a type of once per month thing. Like Coltzan, except, well once per month and with a LOT better prizes

The neomail issue is hard to say. Because you have to remember that ever second, TNT are giving out so many neomails (regarding auctions, warnings, etc) that if they increased this amount, would it make a massive difference (site performance wise)? A shop would be complete chaos. Too much lag I reckon, and there'd still be a way to sift through and find the best items, whilst the worst items will stay to rot (eg, if there are 500 of a certain type of item, and 1 type of item, which will you most likely get? And then think about the fact that if the shop has a max capacity of 50 different types of items, it'll be clogged up with different variants of junk.).

Random Events will be too dependant on refreshing as everyone seems to have pointed out to me. So having a type of 'once-per-month' location to visit, with random prizes would really work. But maybe making it once per week? You have to remember that not everyone will be visiting it every month. I dunno.

The only question I have, it what if they do in fact run out of items? Should they give away random piles of Sludge or just close it?

If they run out of items(probably won't happen lol), they could just have something saying:

Oops, Sorry! We don't have any confiscated items to give out right now, please come back later :)

They won't run out of items. Unfortunately, people will always cheat.

They'll just have fewer items to give away.

I don't know if you remember that day back in the summer when there was a glitch in the freebies--if you so wanted, you could go to them over and over and over--and lots of dishonest people did. And, promptly got frozen afterwards. So, they are watching.

I think by having the "Confiscated Goods" freebies on one particular day a month actually helps them out--because they know to be on extra-special alert on that particular day for multi-account people. And, the age restriction on being able to get a confiscated good (must be an account over 3 months old) would keep people from making new accounts just to get the free item. And, besides, I believe most people would not cheat. Honestly, would you risk your hard-earned nps and long-standing account for the chance to get a jelly or pile of dung? I wouldn't and I know that most people here on PPT didn't take advantage of that freebie glitch back in the summer--because it wasn't worth losing your account over. Sure, having an extra account or two greatens your chances of getting a better freebies and you might get that sinsis sword, but chances are more likely that you will get a low-priced item regardless of how many accounts you have.

Shapu's point of this thread (bless you, shapu) was to get frozen rare items back into circulation in order to keep prices from skyrocketing. We all have given a lot of different suggestions as to the best way to do this. I can only hope that the Neopets teams sees our ideas, figures out which is the easiest and most fair to install and flies with it.

Well, TNT have listened to PPT quite a few times. Like that whole suspension deal. There were a lot of suggestions like that before. I remember them. And then, woe and behold! TNT introduces suspensions! I'm pretty sure that TNT lurk PPT. No, I'm positive, actually.

Appearntly no one noticed that I was responded to, and it did seem typed up and not auto-response message of sorts...

Of course they look on PPT when I (We) give them links to come check out this message board for a great idea on the priceing of R.98 to R.180 items :battar:

Unfortunately the message you got is indeed a form response. I get that exact response to all my suggestions everytime. It is most likely automated.

Yeah, I can confirm that. I've sent in a couple of suggestions myself, all with the same response. Sorry buddy.

Oh and, sorry for snapping at you Qanda. I was really buggered, tired. :D
