Maybe some of you will remember this. Back on Adam's birthday, my original number six plushie, worth 350K, was turned into a flaming evil coconut. So was Rune's and the same thing happened to anyone else who happened to own this limited edition Better Than You plushie. I wrote the staff about it and suggested that they either turn it into a Deluxe Number Six plushie or at least turn the coconut into a limited edition flaming evil plushie, so it would retain its value.

A few days ago, I got a reply from Neopets staff person named Carmen about the coconut formerly known as a plushie. Here's her reply: "Thanks for writing. Ill ask about it, okay? Since it is very unfair for those that bought that plushie at that price."

I also wrote to the Neopian Times Editorial section asking the same thing. And, we haven't seen any new editorials since I wrote. So, maybe Donna will see the mistake and have it fixed.

However, I just wanted to warn any of you who happen to own one not to sell it just yet--just in case it was an error and Neo decides to turn it back.

I say this because just today I have gotten several long-time players wanting to buy it from me for next to nothing or 10 codestones, etc. --acting all innocent and such. Asking why I have a coconut in my plushie gallery and that they would gladly take it off of my hands. These are not coconut collectors or new people: they have been playing more than 2 years. My guess is that they are profiteers and are just waiting for the day it will be turned back into a limited edition plushie and they can make a huge profit.

500 of them were released. So, there are approximately 500 unhappy owners. Everyone from my guild wrote Neo--my guess is that others did too. My hope is that eventually they will get tired of hearing from us and give in.

That was a great idea to write to TNT about it. I hope something gets done about it! Your suggestion sounds like a very sensible one to me.

Theoretically, wouldn't they eventually go up since you can now do something with them? (put them in an album)

Because they are obtainable "in greater amounts" from a game and likely as more people will win the coconut, it will become less valuable over time (as things like battlecards and certain plushies from flash games have seen.)

I personally think it was going to be some point when this word spread that people would take advantage of it (my coconut/former Number 6 plushie is tucked safely in my SDB for this time.)

I think it was from a Better Than You competition. I'm not sure though.

So they ARE obtainable through the Coconut Shy game? Well that changed my opinion completely. The least they could do is make it a retired coconut or something...

Yes, a Better than You competition from summer 2003, if I recall correctly.




As far as I can see, they haven't actually been released through the Coconut Shy game yet. The description says that they are only obtained through that game, but so far I haven't seen an increase in the number of these on the shop wiz. Or any of them buyable as of yet. Which makes me think it was a mistake in coding and will eventually get straightened out.

My theory: when the new one came out, somebody was supposed to give the old one a certain name/description and input the wrong item code--maybe transposed two numbers or wrote a 2 instead of a 7, and gave it the name/description for a totally different item. I hope that my theory is correct because every time I look at that coconut I think of Adam's head. And, personally, if I were Adam, I wouldn't want to be known as the guy who became a flaming evil coconut. Though, Fallen's suggestion of a flaming number six plushie made me laugh hysterically! Now that would be a collectible plushie!!!!!
