...that it was originally intended to be a place for college aged people?

I can't find it, and I have someone that decided I was too old to play, and they are SO much smarter than me (cos they can type all in capitals! :o) and wont believe that it was designed originally for college aged people :)

I'd actually really like to take their keyboard and shove it up their... ermm...nose... well, they're annoying me :P

Ma Twit, I feel for you. Remind the little twerp that if the site was intended to be a kids-only site, those banner ads on the top wouldn't be for Red Lobster, the Wall Street Journal, and cars, but instead ads for Barbie, Britney, and Bubble Yum.

I will do some digging and find it for you.

Oh, well I think her mails just progressed past me trying to prove that point anyway :) I reported her for harrassment now, one more and I'll find something else to report her for.

Probably my fault actually too - I *did* reply in nice calm words, no outright insults or anything... just with very heavy sarcasm ;)

After I got this one:
THIS SITE ISNT MADE 4 COLLEGE PPL U HEFFER!! O AND 4 YOUR
INFO IM NOT FREAKN 7 SO STOP PULLN A MICHEAL JACKSON AND GO READ
YOUR "COLLEGE" LEVEL BOOKS AND GO FINISH YOUR YRS SO U CAN B A MANAJOR
4 MCDONALDS

I replied with:
O AND 4 YOUR INFO I DIDN'T BELIEVE YOU WERE 7, SO STOP BEING SO AGGRAVATING and go read *a* book, maybe that way you will learn how to spell and one day be smart enough to clean the shoes of a McDonalds manager.

Then she got rude. *sighs* Sorry, I really had no intention of winding her up in the beginning - she just got under my skin :P

... all that aside, I think I will go try and find it though, cos I often get these morons, and would like to be able to point them to the page :)

This page of the press kit shows that 21 percent of the users are over age 18: http://info.neopets.com/presskit/compinfo.html

Wikipedia says this: "Neopets is a popular online virtual pet simulation game. The creators of the site are Adam Powell and Donna Williams, but the company was bought by Doug Dohring soon after being created. Neopets started out as a site for bored college students but quickly grew into a site for 'children' of all ages (many adults play this site, some with children of their own), and is currently one of the most popular mainstream sites on the web." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neopets

I just ask them this:

"So when you turn 18 you're going to clear out your bedroom/home of anything resembling a *gasp* toy/game/cartoon. Get a boring office job and have no fun at all?"

Sometimes they say to me. "Haven't you got better things to do?"

To which I reply: "No, not at 4am stuck in an airport."

They assume becoming an adult is some super diferent world where they go out 24/7. I prefer a lazy time playing games on a computer to going out after a hard day. Or while waiting for stuff like planes... Where the only other thing to do is go in shops finding out you have the wrong currency and wasting money on duty free... I prefer the games option :D

Snippet from:

http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art8319.asp

From the interview with Executive Vice President Rik Kinney of NeoPets Inc:

Quote:
According to Kinney, two British college students created Neopets for their own amusement and for the amusement of their friends and other college students.

"It took off, they told their friends about it, and they told their friends about it," said Kinney. "Pretty soon there was this underground community of Neopets members that was growing up around the website."

LOL! I like that :D I seriously *never* thought that was what adults did :P Maybe cos my parents you know, were normal?

Even now, my husband and I are talking about him quitting his job, just *because* he never gets time for any fun. I'd rather we had to live on our savings fro a couple of months, then him continue working 12 hour days 5 days a week, and 8 - 10 hours on Saturday :P

What's the point of working your guts out if you cant stop and enjoy life?

And thanks for that snippet too valerielundberg :)

ok, so lets consider under 13yrs, kids, and all the rest well, "adults"
there is 61% of the neopian total population who in fact is "old"
So, if you show him/her that, you will definitely shut it.

Ma Twit, I have gotten the occasional smart aleck writing me about my "age" and how I should grow up, etc. And, they get to me. Big time. There are some nasty little brats who insist on playing this game--with nothing better to do than insult someone.

But, I have to add, there are a lot of really sweet kids who play also. Every so often, I get the occasional neomail from a kid who thinks it is awesome that I play a game like this--and that, unlike their mom or dad, I take an interest in something that my child is into. They wish their mom or dad would play--or at least understand why they like the game so much. And, several younger PPTers have PM'd me for my opinion on various things. I guess I am a bit like a mother hen.

Here's the link for the entire press kit: http://info.neopets.com/presskit/press01.html

I have it bookmarked.

You have my sympathies. That girl is the same type of one who is nasty to everyone she meets. Probably picks on the girls who aren't as cute or popular as her in school. Stuck up and thinking she is better than everyone else. Just wait til she gets older and realizes just what a little bitty fish she is in this great big pond.

By the way, you should send her a Quick Reference Dictionary. She could use it for the grammatical and spelling errors in her neomail to you. :P
