For some reason my browser is taking an eternity for the majority of banner ads to load before it was only a certain 2-3 now its nearly all of them. Is this happening to anyone else? just started after maintenance

If you got rid of them using the ways posted here they still load. My neopets pages are taking forever to load

the firefox was doesn't block the ads. It just prevents you from seeing them.

If you watch what the page is loading, and from where like I do, you'll notice it pages off neopet site pages. Those that take too long for my taste get blocked ;).

Mxytdvc, I have heard from other people that the adblocker does block the ads from being seen and the white space, but it doesn't actually block the ad from d/l in the background. I don't have firefox, so I can't say for sure.

Tried the css thing for IE - that wanted to work. Unfortunately for some reason it kept crashing my IE, so I took it out.

My main account I do have premium on, but I'm not going to (and couldn't afford) it for my other account. It is SO much slower with the ads, I'm on dial up, have my privacy set to not accept third party cookies, I'm constantly getting an Active X page - something's trying to d/l from a banner ad - partner-source is in the view source for that page.

My roommate plays on Neo, much less than me. She works a long day, and likes to go on the site, do whatever - I think just plays with her pets and plays some games. She's about ready to quit. The banner ads are getting to the point where they're interfering with her being able to play some games. The internet is just locking up and she has to keep rebooting. This did not happen pre-banner ad. Like she says, she goes to Neo to destress from the day, relax and have a little fun. But anymore going on the site is becoming more and more stressful. I even offered to buy premium for her for her birthday this month and she said no, that she's not on the site enough to justify the cost. I don't want her to quit, she doesn't really want to quit, but she's just about had it with the ads.

Plenty of other sites have the larger banner ads and none of them slow down or crash my internet like this - just Neo. I don't understand it.

I have been getting that off and on for a while now. I think the McAfee that I have on my computer stops certain ones from loading because they are, or McAfee thinks they are, spyware.

Also, after a while, the temp files and cookies that load with each page refresh clog up your system and make the computer sluggish. I have found the best thing to do is to clear my cookies and temp files every few hours. And, I keep a Pest Patrol window open at all times. It lets you select which cookies you want deleted, so every so often, I delete all but the Neopets ones.
