Oh... My... God, I'd never think that I'd see this, but... Neo has a PotO reference. Look at the NeoCard, Riyella
Image
And the description:

Riyella, the phantoms true love, couldnt bear the horror of what lay beneath his mask and abandoned her lover at the alter.

Can you say Phantom of the Opera? And there's also a Phantom NeoCard.
Image

Sitting alone in a deserted chapel, the phantom waits for his lost love Riyella who left him at the altar many, many years ago. Every day he plays the same tune, waiting for her to return, but she never does...

Have you found any references on Neopets? Besides the PotC/Maraquan plot thing, and the PotO one of course. :P

Those cards are old (I used to have them because I like PotO). A few of the Neocards are like that, though, referencing something else... Now they are just ignored.

Congratulations, you seem to have found the lost city!

404 = Phorofor = "lost" ?

EDIT : just for fun, some more...

Some more 'referential' 404's:

All your 404 are belong to us!
Neopia... we have a problem...
I find your lack of page disturbing...
I see dead pages! (from "I see dead people!")

Others

Pan Galactic Gargle Slushie (r99 slushie), from "Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster" (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)

Well, the Pink Poogle Toy :D

The Pikachu in the Book of Evil.

Heheh, yeah, I saw that one a few months ago... I took a screenie, the plain blue slushie says something like "it is blue, da da dee da da da..."

"Sarah, go to your room. Play with your toys. Forget about the 404s."
I know this one gets brought up a lot, but that's from the Goonies.

(EDIT: Whoops, got my movies confused. It's from Labyrinth  )

"This is an ex-page. It has shuffled off the mortal coil."
The dead parrot sketch from the Monty Python TV show ^.^

Image
When you bang two of these together they make a nice clip clopping sound.

Heheh, Monty Python and The Holy Grail anyone?

I thought it was from Labyrinth. Oo; I knew borovan's old lookup was from The Goonies, however.

I can't help but notice that Professor Kachevski's (who looks more like a Tuskaninny and not a Kacheek by the tail fin in the background) character design is somewhat reministant of Gene Wilder's character in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein

It is from Labyrinth:

Quote:
Sarah, go back to your room, play with your toys and your costumes, forget about the baby.

There is no Sarah in Goonies.

Me in a dress - that's a once in a lifetime opportunity

Two 404s that mock Star Wars

"That's no page, that's a 404"
"I find your lack of page disturbing."

Also, a lot of the new games are in a style similar to Chu Chu Rocket.

He does, you're right! My family just watched that the other day, at least I think it was that version. And what is with the tail fin, sorta throws you off, eh?
