Yeah imagine if you had a super big store already and it would take you thousands of np to update it. That would be the best random event ever if you really do a lot of business with your store. I've been to some big stores before but never any that had items in it priced to actually sell. Most I have been to have items priced way expensive but I guess they have other people who are rich and don't really care that buy from them.
Actualy if they were extramly large stores their business probably comes from new members. When people first start playing the site they often shop at stores that can be accessed from the NoticeBoard or The Neopian Marketplace. These are large shops that get a lot of busisness this way and don't need to have competitive prices because the people shoping there won't be checking the shop wizard.
They also make a lot of money off of reasonably new players doing the faerie quest. It takes many players a while to figure out that they can just ask for help with a faerie quest on the boards. Under 13 players can't even do that. So people with large shops, and especialy malls organized by catagory, can make a lot of money off of other people's faerie quests. Because people value stats very highly most people don't care that they're paying too much just once because it's less than they'ed pay for that stat otherwise.
