Lately, I've noticed that on the Neoboards, people have became extremely rude and report happy. If someone new asks a simple question, they start calling them stupid and dumb and treat them like garbage. It upsets me to see people on the boards act like they own the place and can do whatever they darn well please. There are very few topics that don't end up becoming a huge argument over something completely pointless. Nobody can make a simple spelling error without getting yelled at and called a New Member. Whenever someone asks for help when their account has been scammed, people don't even bother to help and just insult them. Just the other day I made a topic asking for other people's opinions on my lookup, and they acted totally rude towards me, calling my lookup "horrible" and "boring". I don't mind if they don't like it, but they could've been a bit nicer and given me advice, and at least could have given me some credit for at least TRYING, considering it took me a lot of work. Has anyone else experienced this? It's impossible to get people to stop. Even when you ask them politely, all they do is ignore you or threaten to report you for spam or harrasment. I honestly can't stand it anymore!

That's why the Neoboards are best if you're avoiding them.

Plus, it's probably the #1 to get frozen. There are just so many things you could do wrong, and so many people to report you for it.

I usually don't make too many topics unless I'm positively sure it's not against the rules. But I just don't understand why some people can't just give other users a break, especially since a lot of the users are younger. I only ever reported somebody once, and that was because they repeatedly made spam boards and totally ignored the people that told him to stop.

And even if you don't do anything wrong, there will still be a couple of people around who would gladly report you just because you have a better lookup or pets than they do.

That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Hopefully they'd get frozen for false reporting.

I agree. Help Chat in particular needs an attitude adjustment but that's where I usually hang out most of the time so I don't have much to compare it to. I used to defend those who reported and such but now it's really gotten out of hand to the point where everybody has to start a question with, "Don't report me. Please."

The word New Member (you know the word. That word. That EVIL EVIL WORD) is being thrown around so much it has lost all meaning. EVERYTHING IS SPAM now. EVERYTHING IS HARRASSMENT. You can't even post something like, "Hey check out this person's pet page. It has a guide of avatars and games and whatnot," without someone going, "You can't post their name!!!! It's HARRASSMENT!!!"

And you can't tell them they need to up their attitude because everyone will just shout spam at you until you run away with your metaphorical tail between your legs. I don't even think they know what the definition of spam is anymore. It's become so broad that everybody just sees it as a message that doesn't have the world "help" somewhere in the title.

I know, I used to be like that too, but eventually I got so sick of being angry all the time I started to avoid topics I knew would just turn into a virtual fistfight. But if you ask those people why they stay and shout at each other for 5 pages, they will truthfully answer that "it's fun". I've come to the conclusion that internet text fights are the equivalent of a sort of online road rage. You know the cause of the problem is two miles down at the front of the car line but you yell and shake your fist at the peson in front as if it was their fault while the person behind you is doing the same to you.

Yeah, I only hang out at Help chat. It just bothers me that everyone goes to the spam/beg topics and report that user a bajillion times, and while the people that actually DO need help, get ignored and their topic is pushed all the way to the next page.

Welcome to the Real World.

That is how Neopets has evolved. Over the years, it has turned from a pure and white priest into a dark and sinister wizard.

It is scary yet we can't do anything...

4 years back, Neopets was such a joyful place. Everyone helping each other and doing their best. It was classified "THE BEST GAME EVER". Now it is "THE BEST GAME TO BE LABELLED New Member EVER".

That's why i try to keep away from the neoBoards. It is dangerous. Cars driving around wrecklessly. You dunno when people may just report you for writing something they don't like or hate. There is too much at stake to be in there. Look at the top players of Neopets. Chances of them posting in the neoboards are 0.01% (except for jazz_invincible since he has to post to get ideas abt avatars.)

You don't see featheralley going around saying Hi. The risk to take is far too big. Even if you DESPERATELY need to go there got something or rather just Lurk. Look but do not touch.

The real world is harsh. So is the truth. Accept it. Neopets has changed for the worse and will most properbly not get out of it. Even if they ban some words, it is useless... People will just re-invent more and more. It is pointless..

Well, just stay away from there and ....

I'm sort of proud of the fact that I've been posting since practically day 1 of my account (that's about five years I believe) and I haven't been frozen yet. I don't even think I've even been reported (people are generally really boisterous about that sort of thing so I'd probably know).

Compared to the life span of many neoboarder's accounts, I must be some sort of immortal super god of the HC neoboards.

I know. I've actually posted some things that I regreted because I thought for sure I was going to get reported, but luckily, so far I'm clean. :) I'm on the HC right now. I wish they had stickys, so people would know that those chain letters don't work. People are too lazy to read the rules, but there should at least be a topic to warn people. I never read the rules myself, but I'm smart enough to figure out that copying and pasting a message isn't going to get me 50 baby paintbrushes. D:

XD I think it's funny that they say they're going to "iceland", considering that's actually the warmer one and Greenland is the one that's a big sheet of ice.

I find it kind of sad how some people will report others just for asking a simple question, especially if the person they are reporting is a newbie who had just joined Neopets and wasn't sure of really anything, not even how to feed their pets.

To me, the Neoboards are just one big huge warzone. Any decent non-report-happy people on them mostly lurk or help people through Neomail since it's safer..

The report button was the most unhelpful thing to add to the Neoboards. ._.
