From The Neopian Times, Issue 157:

I was on The Boards and somebody said that you get automaticly frozen when you get 50 million Neopoints, is that true? - Horsedolfin987
No, we do not freeze anyone unless they break the rules in a very drastic way.

...the freeze bots are the things that do that

the belief, whereas seemingly funny and ridiculous is not entirely baseless though. nope, it's not always the bots that are doing it. it's a strange mindset or neopets internal policy among monitors that your wealth in just neopoints must be directly proportional to the age of your account. hence, if a 3 day/1 week old account has 20m np in his account, he may get frozen but he's probably safe if he has 20m worth of item. this is the reason why many good restockers who restart after getting frozen store some of their restocks in the SDB and don't sell everything straight away.

I agree with Mystique - if you have a new account and it gains alot of np really fast, or alot of rare/expensive items quickly you seem to get TNT's undivided attention - not a good thing.

Of course, any time you get a great deal of np/items quickly (say a really great trade or auction, someone leaves and decides to give another user their np and/or expensive/rare/retired items), you're under the microscope too.

I would like to know the definition of
Quote:
break the rules in a very drastic way
having seen people warned/frozen for:

saying bikini, crap, ebay, words used on the site (like in certain games), etc.,
"inappropriate" usernames on 2+ year accounts,
game glitches - where the person did NOT cheat,
having the misfortune of being acquainted with another user frozen for cheating,
buying from a shop/trade/auction a "duped item" when they didn't know it was duped,
buying from shop/trade/auction/adopting a pet from a stolen account - when they didn't know the account was stolen,
"abusing" the report form - for reporting real scams, not fake ones, not multi reporting the same user,
people who use the same computer - but have their own account with their own email having all accounts frozen for "multi'ing" either because everyone did dailies, played games, or worst of all, one person wanted to be nice and send another person on the same IP a pricy (like pb) item.

Of course I have seen legitimate warnings/freezings where I just go YAY! I guess I've just seen way too many unfair warnings and freezings lately.

alina - I got a warning and all my guild posts deleted for replying to someone else suggesting I look on ebay for a McDonald's plushie I couldn't find around here - the same day TNT promoted the 2 (albeit charity) auctions on ebay. Virtual got FROZEN for saying ebay - got a warning, then frozen. So yes, ebay is a very drastic thing to say!

And yet someone just neomailed me today asking to be my NF. Their username contained the phrase "dirtyjew." This person has been on neopets for 20 months. How is that possible?

Now that IS breaking the rules in a very drastic way! How on earth has that person gotten away with that name? And why would someone with a username like that be asking other people to be their NF? I sure wouldn't want to be. Ugh, that name is really making me angry!

That would suck if you just signed up and you won a jackpot of some sort that gave you a lot of money. You'd probably get frozen in a day or two for some really odd reason

I highly doubt you would get frozen from recieving a jackpot unless it is a contest run by users. If it's run by Neopets, you wouldn't get frozen.

The game 'Cheat' doesn't take much skill to get a Champion Trophy. However, I am curious about the Desert Pteri.
