There's a "report this pet name" link under each pet in the pound for adoption now. Does anyone know why?

I don't think it's a bad idea to scan the names like that but what if a pet name is reported and then the pet's adopted?

Hmm...maybe because of the names with...suggestive or offensive words?

Yes, but lets say a few people report an offensive name. A person adopts it, because they like it and dont care about the name. Next day they go to log in and they are frozen for having a pet with an offensive name. See what it means?

I don't see the report button. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough o_O

And after looking through the adoption center a bit I've come to realize that people can come up with some very...interesting names. I don't browse the adoption center much x_X

It's not a button it's just a text link under the pet's name

I would expect them to think far enough ahead where they wouldn't freeze a person for adopting a pet that's been reported. You have to move quickly there to get good pets, and I only look at color, or stats depending on what I'm looking for, so you can't expect someone to take the time to check a name before you adopt it. Those good pets can be gone in seconds, people lose them in transfers all the time. I'm assuming they would just delete the pet, and hopefully give the person back the Np they spent adopting it. I remember when I created a pet named GayEyrie, they deleted him. I was sad because apperently an Eyrie can't be gay :P

Some people give pets horrendous names and throw them in the pound just for people to see. I personally have no complaints about this reporting bit.

However I have come across an adoption guild that specializes in adopting pets with lousy names (like dungeater or something similar). But the really offensive ones shouldn't be around.

Right... almost two years ago, I adopted a pet, and his name can be viewed by some as offensive, as it reminds an unpolited word. Problem is, he has a petpet. The same petpet for practically two years.

Now... what do I do? Put the pet for adoption, missing the chance of winning a small fortune at the Protection League, or keep it and risk loosing a more-than-30 months account due to some over-zealous fellow neopian?

Neopets getting stranger and stranger...

Not as funny as another pet I saw in the pound like two years ago. SourCrapOnABrick. :roflol:

Yeah, I've seen two Neopets with very O_o;; names... They should be deleted.

Oh, and if TNT decides to delete my draik, Scorching_Hot_Fire_D, just because "hot" is in the name, I'll kill them. :x

On one of my accounts I adopted a pet from the pound it's name was gaypetabandonme. I felt sorry for him so I adopted him, I call him Gayle instead. :) I do think it's a good idea that pets with bad names can be reported.

That won't happen. They don't freeze because of one offensive pet name, even if you created the pet yourself. For instance someone (Zega I think) made a pet called Herpes, and now the pet's lookup says:

This pet has been deemed inappropriate for Neopets.

The owner wasn't frozen though.

Incidentally Adam Powell used to have a pet called Mardi_Gras but inexplicably he has deemed it "inappropriate for Neopets" - perhaps he was just having a joke :P
