Open for debate: I have a web page that generates many referals for neopets. I got to 10 and got a paintbrush, but then changed the referer to a friend so she recieved referal prizes. She was SHOCKED! I thought it was neat and would change my link to other users, randomly, as a surprise. I don't think I could get in trouble with neopets for doing this. I could be wrong. People have warned me against it. Should I stop?

Thats a really nice thing to do!:) I dont see how you could get into trouble, how can anyone tell that its not your account! I have never seen anything that says you cant refer people to neopets for which ever account you choose!

i don't think it is wrong, however i'm not an authority on such things so it's only my opinion. in fact, i think it's quite nice of you to do that for your friend :)

Doing it for friends is nice, but I like to do if for people I don't even know who seem nice. Like one who adopted a pet that i was trying to transfer. She returned it to the pound for me and I transfered it fine. I left it on her username for almost a month!

It is the only way remaining that I have found of being anonymously nice. I would hate to ahve to give it up. I do worry about freaking somebody out, though. Would you freak out?

I think that's really nice of you to do that. And I don't really see how that could be bad.. but the way TNT is I'm sure somehow they might hit you with a warning or your friend with a warning saying that you were cheating for prizes etc..

Thinking about it I think the only way you could get in trouble is if you kept changing it everytime they got a paintbrush cos then it would look like you are just getting paintbrushes on your own multiple accounts. But as long as you aint advertising it, how the neopetting heck are they gonna know?!?!

That's a really kind thing of you to do! But do you send the people you put under the referral link a neomail telling them that they were chosen? Or do they know some other way? Because certin uninformed people might start freaking out, thinking it's a mistake/glitch/scam. If you've ever been to the HC, you could imagine just one person broadcasting it to others as a glitch...

I personally wouldn't freak out, I mean a paint brush is a definate improvement... but others might... Ah well, I say keep going with it until someone complains. Hopefully, no one will and we all shall live happily ever after.

Aww, I think thats really nice of you! I don't think its wrong at all, especially because it was for other people. I think the only reason TNT would have a problem with it would be if you linked it to say, your second account or something, which you aren't. :) I think thats so generous of you!

That's extremely sweet of you. :)

Do I think TNT would object? Sure....they absolutely hate it when they get new users to the site signing up all the time....

Kidding. ;) Way to go :) , and I se no reason why anyone would be upset.

Wow, im going to probably be the first and only person who points out that there IS something wrong about this....

now dont get me wrong.... because I DO think that pointing the referalls to somebody else is a very nice idea to surprise people with, especially since they recieve things from it....

HOWEVER..... there IS a problem with the fact that you are giving it to people.... what if Neopets thinks that it is cheating? YOU wont be getting the referrals, your friend will be. So, if neopets thinks you are cheating, your FRIENDS will be the ones getting frozen, not you!! And its even worse if they were wrongfully frozen.... what would you say? "Sorry, I got you frozen because I made a referral generator and put it in your name...."

a very nice thing to do indeed, but if TNT sees things the wrong way, then your friends would be paying the price, and it would be your fault.... see what I mean?
