day 6: no matches, 9k

We're officially in a tropical storm warning (it should hit us sometime after midnight). I've brought in loose stuff from outside. Going to add some water containers to our freezer, see if I want to add anything to my emergency food supply, fill up my car with gas, make sure my laptop and phone are charged, maybe pick up new flashlights, batteries, and a car charger. Take pictures for insurance. Convince my neighbor to clear his carport of potential flying objects. Have my grab-and-go totes ready. Again, the biggest danger here is falling trees (I'm not in a flood plain) and blowing debris.

Thanks, guys! We're all prepped and ready. Running one last load laundry before it hits, just in case we lose power (so we'll have as many clean clothes as possible). Already took pictures (and backed them up on our backup drive), filled the tubs, cleared out the outside stuff, moved things away from windows, got all the emergency supplies, and have packed the outside freezer with ice over the last several days (and done more things that is probably worth listing). Here we go...

I wish generators weren't quite so expensive! We just don't have room for that in our budget right now. Not that we could find one this minute if we did...

Day 7: 12k.

I don't remember what I matched, because I did it painstakingly slowly on my phone earlier today after managing to get out another update.

Irma has passed, though it turned due north at the last minute and the eye passed close to us (though not on top of us), and we got three sides of the bad winds from that. We kept power through it (though we had about a half our of no-power right around sunset today). We lost internet last night, but it's back now (thank goodness, because the phone service/mobile data is SUPER BAD right now). Only minor damage to a tree, and some parts of the fence will need to be replaced. We lucked out - at least three houses that we can see from ours lost a chunk of shingles, including our next-door neighbors.

Day 1: 2k

I lost power for forty hours during the tropical storm, so there was nothing to do but start over. At least my house and car were okay. I feel like my area got hit worse than most people I know in Florida, even people who were much closer to the eye when it was still a hurricane. Then again, we have worse housing standards, and tons of tall (weakened) trees positioned next to roads, houses, and power lines. And it was the first tropical storm that's ever hit Atlanta...
