"People, we need to be more practical, I think. The toaster would bring a whole new level to our eating experiences!! A couple of loaves of bread, for around £8, we'd have 40 portions of toast! It'd be toasty heaven!

We need to be conservative on the luxuries, though a few would not go amiss.

And the toaster is forever, or so I hope. It'd make sense. Cheese slices and sausages would not go amiss, everyone seems to like cheese and sausages."

I agree. lets say that is 10 pounds pent on toaster, bread, sausages and cheese slices. We will also need other food because we can't exactaly live of that. So we have around 2 pounds left, what should we get?

"Okay, a toaster would be ideal, but we simply don't have the cash.

Doing the sums:

Remaining portions of food: 27
People to feed: 11
Portions each: 2
Days: 7

Total consumed per week: 144
Total to buy: 117

Toaster: £6

Now, bread is by far the most efficient food. (5.5p per portion)

Therefore:
Bread (5 loaves): £5.50

Remaiining: 50p

Cheese slices (5 portions): 50p

Total portions: 105

There, I say we try to carry some money over to next week so we can buy this essential purchase."

"I just want popcorns. Popcorns all the way! Get popcorns! Yeah, yeah, save up, all very good, but please Tom remember the popcorns too! And remember I'm allergic to cheese, I can't eat any."

She grabbed a sausage and started eating.

For eating today, I'd like two slices of cheese, if there are enough left.

Toasters also have the more innovative uses. with a few modifications, you can cook everything on a toaster! still say we should stuff ourselves with sausages, but we'd all starve if we did that, so get bread until we don't starve, and use the reast on sausages and popcorn then

Total to buy: 127

(hehe, keeping a small reserve would be good)

To spend: £12

6x loaf of bread: £6.60
Remaining: £5.40
Portions: 7

5x sausages: £1.50
Remaining: £3.90
Portions: 2

2x popcorn: £1.20
Remaining: £2.70
Portions: 0

3x cereal: £2.70
Remaining: £0
Portions: +12

Heh, small overstock + small variety = toaster next week? (I guess you can't carry money over, so food left over would be best)

And! *eats couple of cheese slices*
