Frank Sinatra great good ole voice. Some of the new singers now are just computer inhanced but they're other singers out there that can really sing.

Joni mitchell, while totally awesome, didn't have that great of a voice. It was plain.

But, that's what makes a lot of singers likable.
*cough*sinatra*cough*
I better watch my back now, I messed with something I shouldn't have.

Brandon Boyd.. Have you heard? Their live music is just as wonderful and possibly even better than their CD music. Which is saying a lot, in my opinion, because Brandon's voice on all of their recent CDs is really really strong (Especially 'Pistola' from ACLOTM)

I agree. She dresses like trash but her voice is beautiful.

Can't agree with Amy lee, her voice is pants live.

Christina has a decent voice though. Joanna Newsom has a lovely unique voice that is somewhat like Lisa Simpsons and absolutely sodding perfect. Jolie Holland has a lovely voice too.

I strongly disagree with that. If you have seen her perform "My Immortal" or "Bring Me To Life", I think she sounds like her album.

But than again, this is your opinion and I got mine.

I strongly disagree too. Amy Lee has one of the most beautiful unique voices I've ever heard

Ammer, are you going by what a live album sounds like or by what you heard when, if ever, you saw them live? Same questions for Igg:P

For non-English stuff I like that Ayumi Hamasaki, Maaya Sakamoto and Gackt all have fantastic voices.

For people who sing in English: I love Bono's voice, especially when he sings like he did on Joshua Tree. Chris Martin and Alexander Kapranos both rock.

Ayumi Hamasaki and Maaya Sakamoto are just completely awesome, as is Mika Nakashima.

Other foreign singers I like are Lhasa and Origa (who else can sing a song in japanese, russian and english and make it sound good?!).

I can't believe no one's mentioned Freddy Mercury yet. :O I love his voice.

The live album is a live performance.

And I have never seen them live but my friend who went said they sounded exactly like their album.

On top of that, I have seen many performances by Evanescence and they have performed well. It's just, you have to give Amy a break, her songs are incredibly hard to sing and singing songs one after another is difficult. No matter what the singer is.

Back on topic, I think Jessica Simpson has a great voice.

Ammer my dear.

I also don't think Jessica Simpson's voice is all that good.

Both Lee and Simpson can sing in tune (most of the time) and usually hit their notes, but I wouldn't put them in my best voices.

And I've seen (and heard, of course) Amy Lee singing live a number of times and it wasn't great. She faltered a lot and at times sounded rather reedy. I'm not an awesome singer, but I am a trained chorister, Ammer, so I do know the strain of singing lots of demanding songs after each other (and more demanding than Evanescence songs too), and songs with tricky high notes to hit. I don't think she's all up to scratch.

The people I choose can sing demanding songs in sequence and still sound smooth and strong and not falter.
