There is actually a zoo somewhere that did that, maybe a year ago or so if I remember correctly. It was pretty interesting from what I remember reading.

They found a baby grey whale (I think they named it Gigi) and raised it. It was cute. And they released it. I do believe it found a pod to hook onto, but I can't remember anymore. They tracked her for awhile.

I always love to see the red pandas whenever I go to a zoo. They're not the most exciting of animals to see, since they tend to sleep during the day, but they are so cute!

I also like seeing the more unusual rodents... like Cavies (of the Patagonian kind)and Capybara.

Oh! Only real animals! Then I change my vote to the chupacabra. Love those little goat suckers.

PS: Sacramento had red pandas while I lived there, but I never went to see them I really wanted to, too.

But there are purple kangaroos. Thier skin secretes an oily purple substance around thier neck, it fades away if they get wet and when they die.

I read a book when i was a kid like that, a family was kidnapped by animals and taken to the animal zoo. Scared me.

and me!!! It was called 'The Human Zoo' and when I read it the end was missing from my book so I never found out if their escape plan worked

Some people say that zoos are crule but most of the zoos I have been to didn't have cages but large fenced out door environments instead. I don't have much objection to them because the animals are well fed and kept safe from poaching and other dangers yet still available for people to see and researchers to study.

If I was provided with all the things I would be accustomed to in my normal life it wouldn't be so bad living in a zoo. The only objection I would have is because of my social anxiety.

I once went to a taxidermy zoo that had stuffed specimens that died of natural causes donated from regular zoos. I was really surprized by the size of a polar bear when standing on two feet. It was really amazing to see the animals that close, even though they weren't alive.

aww that sucks!!! i wonder if zorg can remember if it was a book we owned - and if we did own it i wonder if we still have it. hopefully he'll go and look for it and see... *hint hint* then if we do we could post it to you!!

I've seen a Sand Cat before at a zoo. When I saw it, I randomly blurted out "Kitty!" when I saw it. It was at the Living Desert or something like that. when I said that the Cat woke up, looked around and went back to sleep. They're like little kitties!
