Why would anything resembling an ape, human OR costume have opossum DNA? Perhaps that should be the real question.

(And yes, I know the answer. Assuming my answer is correct, it doesn't prove or disprove the corpse's authenticity).
Verry True. They were talking about it on our local news tonight. And they showed pictures...to me the costume thing's face looked like it was based off of a cartoon that got ran over (you know, the eyes crossed and tounge sticking out).

Apparently the two guys who "discovered" this have gone missing. One news reporter said they were out looking for another costume

Apparently, that is how actual days-old corpses look. Explanation in spoiler tags because it's gross:
Gases are a byproduct of the decomposition process. Those gases cause certain parts of the corpse to swell up and burst. The tongue swells up and goes outside of the mouth, and the body cavity swells up and eventually bursts (causing the internal organs to spill out). In those respects, the photos are accurate. However, since both of the men are hunters, they may have already encountered a number of dead animals and are more able to create a fake one.

I laughed my tiny belly off when I saw that.

But I don't know what made me laugh more, the video, the description of the video or the comments of the video.

Given the episode it's from. No. Not at all.

"It's faaaaaaake!"

I loved the comments on that vid. So funny.

Why can't anyone prove bigfoot is actually out there?

Give me a permit to slash and burn the worlds forests and I'll do it...

Same goes for Nessy, except a REALLY big pump.

<.<

More probable that it doesn't exist, or is nothing like the "Sightings" claim.

People see and believe in things they want to see and believe in. But there is no scientific hard evidence that supports the existance of Big Foot or Nessie... or many other cryptids.

Trust me i'd love to find some. I think it would be awesome. But it just doesn't exist.

*shrug*
Tell a man there are a billion stars in our galaxy, one of a billion galaxies in the known Universe and he believes you without question.
Tell him some paint is wet and he has to touch it, just to be sure.

He accepts the one idea because he knows he can't climb in a rocket ship and explore the universe. But he'd also accept any of a million other explanations, so long as they made sense.
As for the other idea--it's good to challenge an idea if you can figure out how. Besides, testing paint for dryness is fun.

Not if you get a red hand ;)

Saying that, there are a great many easier ways of "fact checking" the stars bit without resorting to Space flight, especially given the time it would take to actually check the number of stars in the galaxy (And galaxies in the Universe), but I am veering wildly from my point I suppose.
