They're pretending they didn't get behind with Grundo Independence Day -- which was the 24th, but the news (though dated the 24th) was released well into the 25th. So they did their random "Wednesday" the "25th" news on Thursday the 26th; then they slipped today's news in tonight.

Gets even funnier when you go to the pound and you see people throwing out ugly old mutant cybunnies...only to read that it says "FAERIE" or "DESERT" in the pet's lookup :lol:

Why do I get a sense of doom when I realise that Neopets could ultimately screw this up?

As fun as the day may seem, people are also in danger of being scammed/password grabbed because now their Draik or Kougra has become the fabled Mutant version. Also because of this, people are dumping their beloved pets because Neopets couldn't make the announcement public earlier.

I may sound like a complete downer right now, but I'm not exactly thrilled with this "occasion" of Neopets's. My Fiance and I are now watching our accounts very closely, even though we scarcely log into them save to lab and feed our pets.

I see a LOT of unhappy players after today...
