In this type of cases, the hacker is most likely someone who you told your password to, or did you write your password down somewhere? Someone may have took it and used it to enter your account. The worst thing is if your password is the same as your username, that is too easy to guess.

I agree with Adam. Show your wealth and you will be attempted to eb hacked.

With all these hackings, I'm SO scared I'm a target.....I mean many people know me, especially Plague members and people from the NeoQuest boards. I don't wanna lose millions :(

Like Optimus, you'd wanna keep a low profile in these times. My password also has numbers in it. So I reccomend to everybody that they change their password! Put numbers in it! When you see a hacking, you see trouble. I hate hackers.

If you're really paranoid, and your pets aren't painted/high level, make a new account and transfer your pets over.

I'm really sorry about the hacking, if there's anything I can do, just let me know. :(

I'm starting to think about the possibility of a PPT hacker..rememebr those emails me and Shifty (I think...:p) got? But I'm just paranoid...

I try to keep a very low profile on neopets.
It worked until I got into the neopian times.
My account looks like I have lots of neopoints and that looks like a hack target.
So I don't post on the neoboards often.
Sure I would love to be more famous on neopets but if that means getting hacked and never seeing my pets again, then I think I don't want to be famous.
I would post more but I don't know what to post.
I might start typing the lyrics to Clay Aiken - This is the night, because that is what I am listening to.

jessica... er... adam... is right, if you flash your phone around in town, someone is gonna want to take it off you.

Maybe times have changed since i was on but....

If in 2 1/2 years you only managed to maybe reach about 1000k np, that says masses about how neopets has been deliberately designed to be accessible only to people who have 36 hours a day to spend on neopets - You need tens of millions to get a strong pet, strong weapons, a gallery or whatever. A casual user doesnt stand a chance unless they turn hardcore and spend hours a day rsing, or pay extra for a better internet connection! Is it worth it? No.

You called me Jessica.... O_O
I thought that was pretty funny.
Maybe I should get a different set.

Just a suggestion...

Ever thought these may be glitches or something? I think it would be a good idea to report anything like this to the team. Since they should be able to find out if it was a glitch or really someone going into your account.

Also I think you shouldn't advertise how many neopoints you have anywhere. Just incase there is some glitch someone is exploiting.

I have been hacked many times but i've never had much to be taken. My advice would be to spread your cash through different accounts so you never lose everything and don't advertise your cash unless you're featheralley

my possible way of protecting myself is: Never give out a password, and keep a low profile, never say how much you have, if you have a strong or nice colored pet, never mention it and such... on the other hand, how would featheralley protect her account? so many people trying to guess her password and so many people trying to guess and hack her e-mailadress...

Easy target.
I would love to give you anything to help you out.
Change your password right away if you didn't already.

Bingo. You made yourself a target by bragging about your neopoints. It's more of a cruel irony now isn't it?

I'll probably send in a bug report, just in case it -is- a glitch. Heck, there's a very good chance it's a glitch. Still, I suggest everyone to keep a low profile. You never know. ._o

...I feel bad now. o_o; All this commotion about a hacking conspiracy is exciting to me. Not the fact that a good handful or two of hardworking Neopians have lost their NP and items, but that...I love a horrible muddle...? *shrugs* Or maybe because I wasn't around for ad0 and the other few people who created some huge din a while back, and I'm itching for some big thing to pop up. ...I'm ashamed. ._o

Yes, that is my advice also. I have 4 different accounts--and my nps are spread among them. I only do freebies on one of them, but two others have shops--so I use those shops to generate more income (I resell items in them). And the income generated by those sales is kept within that account. That way, if any of my accounts are ever hacked/scammed/frozen, I have something to fall back on.

I also agree with a few of the others who stated that this might be a glitch. So, you should definitely write Neopets and explain what happened. Even if they cannot restore the nps or items (which they probably won't do), at least you are making them aware of the situation--so that maybe something like this doesn't happen to others.

I didn't really brag, My sig just simply said: Currently in Bank: 445,943 nps. (I didn't update it often)

It's like subliminal bragging, you're not running around screaming "OMGOMGOMGOMG I GOTS LIKE 400k", but if you're having it in your sig, you obviously want to show it off, which is basically bragging.

Anyway, getting hacked SUCKS. I got hacked once... well, it wasn't really a hacking, more like, my friend guessed my password and used the Neopoints in my shop till to buy herself a Floud. It was like 6k, but that was a LOT to me back in the day, so I was upset. I Neomailed the guy who bought the 6k item and was like "Okay buster, speak up! Did you or did you not hack my account?" XD

Gah, I'm saving up for something super expensive, so I can't really buy you anything. Want an art request?
