I'm sort of like you Qanda. I don't go out of my way to collect the avatars, like playing a flash game three times a day everyday until I get the avatar. If one is easy for me to get I get it. I'm a packrat and a collector at heart, so I do like collecting them, but I don't drive myself crazy trying to get them.

I'm not a really big avatar collector. I get the ones I can, but that's all. I only use the default Eyrie one, anyways. It fits me fine, and other people rarely use it because they use the ones they earned.

My mom, though... she is an avatar collector.

I simply hate the ones that you need a paint brush for. HATE. Its bad enough that there's already few paint brushes in neopia and bad enough that because there's so many new kinds now that there's effectively less of each and bad enough that paint brushes are one of the most wanted items on neopets, TNT has to go make the silly orange avatar or the grey avatar or whatever other avatar and of course the paint brushes for those will never go down in price. ARGH! I hate it. Why don't they just make a "use a retired one-use item" avatar? That would go just a great I'm sure!

I wish most of them weren't so expensive, and game avs so hard to get. I wouldn't mind one or two, but now it seems that all they do is inflate items.

I only post on the Neoboards when I'm advertising for one of my pets in the Beauty Contest, and when I do, dang it, I wanna spiffy avatar! They look cool and make me feel cool! And believe me, I'm not cool. =P

I'm kinda neutral on this subject. I don't post often on the neoboards, but I still like to collect avatars. I DO get the "click a link" ones and overally easy to get ones but I don't go crazy over getting an uber expensive one. Still, avatars are a semi-fun idea, especially for people who are very active on the neoboards. It's also fun for people who like saving up their neopoints (Me ) So, I guess I like avatars but don't go crazy spending all my neopoints on them.

I do not collect. I do get any that I can that take little to no effort an such. I also enjoy the rumor mills about how said rumors about how to obtain an avatar and what it does for the prices of certain items. I just find it morbidly interesting.

And is not most of Neopets about the bragging writes and the high one can get from competing *the professor leaves*

You last paragraph states it exactly, and refutes your previous point. In the first place, most people do not have hope of even getting the third place trophy, so why bother?

i collect only the ones that i want as long as they're semi-easy to get like i'd love the "mew" one but i'm not going to feed 75 kaddys just for that.. some of the cheap ones are cute like the evil jhudora

I only go out of my way for avatars that I like...OR game avatars I can win.

I hate avatars that ruin the prices for things. Crew pretty much hit the mark with PB avatars. I HATE PB avatars cause they ruin the PB. What happens if you want a color for your pet,but because the avatar for another prt of that painted color had an avatar?...makes it not as grand to buy the PB.

Avatars are nice,but they cause too much problems when they involve an item. People inflate them insanly.

Don't care about that trophy. Usually people with that trophy paid over millions for their avatars...like stamp collectors getting a stamp avatar. <_< It cost about 3 mil to get a stamp collector avatar...just one of them.

EDIT: ...and I do post post onthe Neoboards a lot. Usually I only use one avatar, unless I got a brand new one that came out that day and is rare.

I like avatars....I've always liked avatars...I collect PPT avatars...and so I collect neo avatars....for avatars sake alone

I just always wanted 100 anything I get now that's over my 100 is just bonus lol

I also like having some of the rarer avatars that show your wealth (like the Island Quiggle, MSPP, Grarrl Warrior, Grey pet...)

I suck at the games ones, but they show the skill of the player

I collect avatars.

I think the advantage of them is that to be really good at avatar collecting, you have to be good at a large number of things on the site. Many of the games are quite different, so the ability to play a particular game does not gaurentee the ability to get every flash game avatar. I love getting game avatars, I feel quite acomplished .

I do agree about the paintbrush avatars, they totally suck. I paid 750k for my orange grundo and I didn't even keep him... labbed him the next week. The stamp collector avatars are also a bit of a pain... but they were already an expensive hobby so the inflation is not so bad.

On the other hand... the Tombolo toy from the HT has suffered a massive deflation since its release
