You don't remember it changed because it was never released at all.

I badly, BADLY wanted it. I LOVE slug and maggot-like creatures and it looks like the kinds of monsters that I draw myself. (and when it bares its teeth, it reminds me of the chestbursters from "alien!") It is not "too creepy"...it's exactly what mutant pets SHOULD be like.

The one we have now is cool in its own way, sure, but it does not look like a "mutant". It's too attractive and too "healthy" looking. Mutations are supposed to be eerie and deformed! Barely any of the mutants we have now look very mutated...most could pass for darigan or tyrannian.

I still never got over the mutant chia revamp. The old one was one of my favorite things ever, and my whole REASON for liking neopets at all! I nearly quit when they changed it, but stuck around just to see if they ever released anything else I like even half as much. Incidentally, I'm still waiting. Only the intesteen and mutant slorg come close, and they're just little petpets. At least they haven't changed the mutant blumaroo...that was always my second-favorite, though still FAR behind the chia.

You know, I do like the old Mutant Aisha; it's freakishness is what makes it unique. Did you see this pose?



And as for the old Mutant Chia...that was really neat looking; better than the one now. The old one looked like a big blob with claws and red eyes, the new one looks like some sort of leafy thing.



The unreleased Mutant Bruce is very interesting too...

I can't even recognise the mutant chia ... I can see why it was changed, it doesn't even look like a chia.

According to Donna in the editorial, the mutant chia (as well as Usul and Kiko) were ONLY changed so their plushies would look better. Completely awful. Sludgy, saggy, shambling creatures are my favorites as well :p

The mutant draik was a step back in the right direction though...we need some more that are zombie-like, or like the wocky beast...



That's what was so cool...many of the original mutants looked completely different from the normal pets. If that was the problem, they still could've made it more chia-shaped without completely changing the concept!

I think with some fattening up, the aisha could make a terrific mutant poogle.

The mutant Chia (old one) doesn't even look like one...looks like a swamp beast! Did they put its image somewhere in the Haunted Woods?

I like the enw mutant Aisha....less ugly/sick and also plushie-nice ^_^

That's just freaky... But cool in its own way.
I think the newer mutant aisha is better, becuase it's more colorfull, and has more of a shape to it. The older one is, well, mutated, but it's a bit dull in my opinion.
But what do I know about freakishly mutated gone horribly wrong things...

The old images are so much fun to remember.
I think there ought to be a "Retro PB", with the old art for the pets; then we could all rel-live the horror of images coloured with *shudder* gradients.

"Plushie-nice" is exactly what mutant isn't supposed to be, though. I think the mutant aisha would look better in the fleshy color of the old one, or a shiny red (like the intesteen). I like how it has pinkish skin covering its eye, though. Like a baby bird or something....and if you notice, those "spines" down its back are TONGUES! Hee.

I think the old version along with the chia and usul should be redrawn and uploaded as lab-ray-exclusive colors, or something. They could be called "proto-mutants", as if they're old, unstable experiments that Dr. Sloth abandoned.

i had one of the new ones as a result of getting the mutant avv, and then the lab changed it on first shot to a blue moehog or something -_-

personally i think the old one is a really neat idea, someone had to have had real imagination to come up with it but i don't like it, i like the new one better, but thats a personal taste thing.
