Alright, listen up here people. My computer memory is at 39.2 MB (Hooray for space!). This is critically low and I need to get rid of programs. The problem is, I'm trying to get rid of the Sierra program but it won't uninstall. It says this:



And I have no other Sierra programs installed. I had a game which was run by Sierra but I uninstalled that months ago. How do I get rid of this?

Hmm, clean the registry of anything that has something with that game to do.

Search for RegCleaner and download that, works like a charm for those things

I don't think my computer can handle another program to be downloaded. I have very little room. Can I clean it out manually?

It's better to download a registry cleaner than do it yourself. Unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't advise it, as (1) the registry is huge and would take a veeery long time to delete every single regfile; and (2) deleting a wrong regfile could permanently damage your computer.

I'm having difficulty getting certain programs to load. Two of them (Zonealarm and Outlook Express) are two I rely on heavily. OE went first. I can still open it up, but it takes several minutes to do so. Today, Zonealarm went, and it won't open up either on startup or when I click on it from the menu.

The strange thing about this is, that there is no reson for them to be doing this! We have tons of memory (this computer was recently overhauled a few months ago, with top of the line stuff), and tons of space for it to use! I've been doing several spyware scans with various programs, and they've come up clean. We don't have any anti virus software installed, but I'm doing scans from the Symantec website. So far they've come up clean also. No errors are coming up, and I have NO idea what is going on!

And I can't ask my dad or he'll get mad, since I was the one who busted the computer last time. Any help or insite is much appreciated!

I can't help with the ZoneAlarm problem, but OE used to do the same thing to me too. Occaisonally it will take 5 minutes to load. Have you considered switching to Mozilla Thunderbird? I haven't yet, but I heard it's great.

laq: Is AIM set as your default instant messenger program? If so, look around in its prefferences and disable that checkbox (wouldn't harm your IM program, but should make OE stop attempting to communicate with it, and therefore load faster).

Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs Tab: Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser > Run Internet Explorer > Make it the default browser?: Click Yes > Done.

My brother-in-law managed to free up to 300MB on my computer. However, the following day it was down to 42 MB. I ran a scan for spyware on Spy-Bot Search&Destroy and nothing came up. I don't think there is a virus installed because if it was, wouldn't it do more damage? Does anyone know what is causing the memory to decrease so fast?

When you say memory, you're probably talking about hard drive space (a common mistake). If the hard drive is used a lot, as in there is a lot of activity going on, files will be fragmented and pieces will be floating around, causing size fluctuation. Try defragging.



For Windows XP: Right click taskbar > Properties > Start Menu Tab > Customize. Where you see a check box that says 'Internet', select your browser on the drop-down menu.
