I do think the PPTbies last year was a bit of a popularity contest. It seemed to me that it was always the person that people knew best who won for the category. I'm not saying it was for every category, but...it's just what I noticed. Part of the reason might be because a lot of the newer members don't know anyone else, so they just vote for the person they heard of? Works that way with school elections at my school :P

I hope this year someone can figure out a way to turn it around and make it seem less like a popularity contest.

Aw. Thanks. I hate you too. :)

(This post was brought to you by the word "Kidding" and the breakfast cereal "Frosties". Mmm, they're putrid)

IMO, the best way of doing that would be having a nomination council which decides who we vote for in the last bir.

Sounds neat, I wonder if I'd be nominated for anything? Although, another forum I was on had a neat variation on this: People would apply, and people would try to think up an award. In a way, everyone won... well, except for the poor sucker who got "Most Annoying".

Heh...I had an idea for a new category...

Most devoted fangirl

It'd be down between me, Medli, Sunnie, and a few other people...

I agree. Although I'm happy for winning stuff, there were some people that really deserved the award and recognition in my opinion that didn't even make it past the nomination stage- that may be for various reasons, but it seems more like the fact that people only vote for who they know. I'm afraid that there's no truly plausible way to make the PPTbies not a popularity contest while making the event fully community-driven like it has been in the past years. If it did turn out to be a popularity contest, then I would rather the event not be held.
