I've used one. They don't really put you ahead at all, its just as good as going and refreshing yourself. Then again this one did the shop wiz not the main shops.

Ok, firstly does anyone honestly believe that this is a legitimate autobuyer?

Let's roleplay for a second - you now want to get ahead in neopets, you dont care how, and you have no quibbles about cheating provided you're not caught. You make/find a working autobuyer, its helping you restock amazing things! Will you:

a) keep it secret, the less people that use it, the longer before tnt find out about it and put up specific guards against it.
b) share it with random people you dont know, endangering your money making
c) pretend to share it, but actually send people a keylogger/cookie grabber program instead, preying off their greed and naivety to further improve your neopets riches through any means you can.

I worked for over a year and the senior modorator in a large runescape irc community. In all that time, I have seen every cheat, hack, keylogger and thing under the sun people use to scam eachother. Simply think of it this way - what does the user have to benefit from giving you this cheat? Normally its nothing, immediately indicatings its almost certainly a scam.

This autobuyer is a keylogger or cookiegrabber for sure, I must admit, I'm rather suprised at the general naivity of those who think it's real.

I think that the majority of us know that this is a scam. But unfortunately there are such things as auto buyers and the discussion was covering those too.

I understand that, however quite a few people seem to not have realised it could possibly not be real. I may, of course, be mistaken, but that was the distinct impression I got. Also, my post was meant more as a general warning, as some people are bound to "just try it out" anyway. As for autobuyers, I highly, highly doubt there are many, if any working autobuyers, as it takes a seriously professional level of coding to write programs to the degree now needed to evade tnt's latest questions etc. I think autobuyers are almost certainly far, far less widespread than most people think, simply as anyone who has one will certainly not share it, due to the risk of 1. being caught if reported by someone, and 2. the more people using it, the more likely it is to be detected.

Honestly, if TNT want to do something useful, why cant they just add the exact phrase "THIS INTO TEN OF YOUR TRADES" to their filters, and prevent anyone saying it from posting with a little pop up message saying "this is a scam, it has no benefit and just causes you to annoy other users" or similar. Now THAT would be useful.

Why? Why do these people try to cheat at GAMES? Games are supposed to be fun, and Neopets is a game, personally in my opinion it is just sad how people cheat at a GAME. Get a life people, Neopets is a game, not to be cheated on, the whole purpose of Neopets is for entertainment purposes, and for fun.

Also, if I were you, if you have any of your IM adresses, or email adresses in your profile, I suggest that you remove them ASAP, people probably stalk through these forums looking for people to IM or email to try and cheat them. Luckily I don't have mine showing.

In my mind I don't know why anyone would want to put their contact information here, in the open public, don't you people remember what your parents tought you when you were young, to never give away your personaly information? There are really scary people in this world, so personally I think that you should only give it away over PM or something like that to a friend that you trust, and no one else.

That person IMed me a few days ago. Naturally I felt he was full of it, but I toyed around with him anyhow. I never even went to the site

but what if someone had been stupid enough to fall for the scam or how many others this guy may have up, eg. a cookie grabber webpage or whatever and a person gets sent there through a shop page or whatever? then you have the hacker, making that accounts email that email, and if tnt freezes it, bye bye account. bye bye any chances of anyone getting it back too.

also theres the thing, they cannot take action on anything that doesn't happen off the site, only that which takes place on the site, because i hate to say it, people do file false reports. IM isn't something they can police, or prove its real people fake things all the time. without proof they are willing to believe is genuine, they can't really do anything. which is both good and bad. good in that people aren't always frozen because of false reports. and bad because the in your face stuff like this, cannot be frozen for.

Shellie, I kind of thought as much. If they don't have an actual username, I don't know how much they can really do. And people can change their email/username on AIM in a few seconds.

Cheating/scamming/cracking/hacking is getting more and more prevalent. I almost feel like the people doing this on Neo (besides being pathetic and cruel for doing this on a game site) are doing it as practice for the 'real world' type stuff. Having gotten at least 3 'spoof' emails from ebay, a few from paypal and actually having someone repeatedly try to hack (truly hack) my paypal account, I find this beyond toubling.

On the subject of safety - yes, as I said earlier, I don't think people should have so much personal information in their profile here. PM if you know/trust a person and exchange that information that way. Add to that the programs that search forums just like this one looking for email addresses to add to their spam lists, which is just a nuisance.

i got contacted few months ago by an autobuyer person and he told me to download it.. so i pretented to and said :

OMG!! I GOT A DRAIK TRNSMOGRIFATCION POTIAN!!! (yes.. i purposly spelt it that way ) FOR 300 NPS!!! AHHH!!
and he said something along the lines of : Good job! see how easy it is?
and i kept saying thinngs i pretended to get and some things that didnt even exist like a Quiggle Repto Beam XD

It was quite fun toying with him.. until he figured out i was lying.. i think a Draik Replusive Gun was too much :3
