'A bird seems to have landed on the roof,' Karmina stated.

Menai didn't bother to hide her smirk. A bird seems to have landed on the roof! What a waste of breath. She turned away and caught Maulior's remark.

'The flow of the river was what I had been questioning about thirty times last night,' she said in an icy tone. 'Obviously none of you bothered to even think about it until now.'

Tiherih leaped off the roof of the cabin and landed with his back to the door. He twirled around, pulled out his knife, and rammed straight into the door with all his might, his knife drawn out in front of him. The door crashed down backgrounds onto the floor of the cabin. Tiherih's eyes gleamed. Even if he perished, it would be one of the highlights of his dark, lonely life to fight these "soon-to-be heroes."

A crash sounded in the cabin. Menai's head jerked back to see a goblin standing at the entrance, the door unhinged and on the floor.

Iaran looked at Menai weirdly, Sheesh, what's her problem?

She was about to reply when the door was slashed through. Jumping up, missing most of her accesories, she grabbed her daggers and backed closer to her accesories. Glaring at the goblin she grabbed her gloves, boots and her backpack. Pulling them on quickly she bared her teeth and held her daggers in a fighting stance. "Grrrr, stupid goblin, now I have to fight in all my wet clothes...." she muttered under her breath, Stupid creature, everyone is soaked and there's no way we'll be able to fight well in this condition.

Then, her eyes lightened up, she grabbed her Songstress sphere and changed, then she immediately changed back to her Thief sphere. Grinning, and feeling strangely refreshed, she twirled her daggers around her hands. "Well that's much better, nice dry clothes. I suggest you all do the same, I'll hold this fella off whilst you do...."

[And...uh...since most of the squad members are in the kitchen, and Tiherih burst open the CABIN door, not the kitchen...*stares at confusing posts*]

((O_o Glass, you're right! Although I assume Jade meant that the goblin dude (too lazy to find name, lol) entered the kitchen. If she actually meant the cabin then I'll change my post...))

[Well, we could assume that most rooms on board a ship are called a cabin anyway. Jade's character is in the kitchen as far as I can tell. Karmina definitely left it though.]

Karmina had just located a tiny cabin at the other end of the boat from the kitchen and well away from the quarters she thought the rest might take up. It really was small, about half the size of the bathroom she had had in school. A lone hammock was strung up; there was no room for anyone else, however, that was precisely what she wanted.

She dropped her bag into one corner and peered out the porthole that was near the hammock. There was nothing to see in the dismal drizzle that still reigned outside. Not that she had wanted to see anything in particular, come to think of it. She changed into some dry clothes and made a makeshift clothes line by hanging a piece of rope from two nails, one on each side of a wall and draping her wet things onto them. She planned to wash them properly later.

Brushing her damp hair, she felt much better. Clean, dry and with a good, sweet drink. This part of the trip was not too bad, so she meant to enjoy it whilst she could. To Karmina, that meant studying.

Nothing about the White Mage dressphere interested her. She had no qualms about what might happen should the other White Mage fall - surely the dressphere itself would provide enough information to help her. No, the Songstress sphere, her birthright, was of infinitely more importance.

She spread out the thick tomes she had brought with her onto the floor and read by the dim light that came through her porthole. Although she was not completely satisfied with her mastery of the Darkness Dance, she was pleased to note that it could not be any ordinary one. That was something she would always know how to do, even if she did not have her Songstress sphere. This gave her great comfort, that she might never be lost without a sphere. However, it was not possible to improve upon it without an enemy to practice on. She knew from experience that one could always improve. Not being able to do just yet did not bother her in the least.

The next dance she meant to master was the Samba of Silence. First things first though - what on earth was a Samba? It was a kind of dance that she had learned before, although the steps were now forgotten. Perhaps one of the others would know? None of the books stated exactly what it was, and she did want to understand what she was doing thoroughly. While she was at it, she could ask what "inflicting Silence on enemies" meant. Looking up what Silence was did not appeal to her if another person had more handy information.

Packing the precious books away, she downed the last of her chocolate drink and made her way back to the kitchen, where she presumed the others might be.

[If the goblin is in the kitchen, she will see him. If the goblin is not in the kitchen, then Karmina will not be.]

[not sure which "cabin" the thump came from, but assuming it could be heard where FulXar and Maulior are b/c of Maulior's reaction...]

Hearing the thump, FulXar quickly reached for his pack. 'Too small an area for Falah...' he thought, grabbing his second sphere. Reluctantly activating it, his clothing radically changed to that of a Samurai, katana in hand and smaller sword sheathed at his waist. 'It's been a while since I had to do this...'

[And oh yes, if you're inflicted with Silence, it stops you from casting ANY magic. Silence is an effective way to render a fiend which attacks by magic, useless.]

When the goblin burst open the kitchen door suddenly, Elily whirled towards the goblin, almost dropping her mug. She instinctively tossed her mug into the sink, and immediately groped for one of her two guns which was on the kitchen table. She aimed it at the goblin, having it at gunpoint. Fancy an intruder on the ship! Elily glared at it, daring it to try anything funny.

Menai stared at the goblin. She felt something very sinsister and out of the ordinary about him. Or maybe it was because of his dark clothing. 'Who...'

Tiherih's eyes traveled to rest upon Menai. He did not reply immediately. Instead, he waited for a couple of seconds until he said in a loud, clear voice,

'I be strong goblin,
You all be needy weak ones.
I am the stronger.'

That wasn't one of his best Haikus. When he had a chance to really sit down and have a conversation, his haikus were beautiful, the words flowing easily from his mouth. But this was no time for poetry. This was time for battle.

'Battles be noble,' he voiced.
'Many perish for honour,
Heroic it be.'

There, that one had been a little better. Without further ado, Tiherih pointed his knife in front of him and lunged straight for Iaran.

Karmina stood behind where the goblin had entered by way of the broken door. She had meant to ask a question about sambas when she saw the creature.

Apparently, dark wizards weren't enough, but goblins felt it necessary to join them as well.

She was not at all happy. In fact, she was enraged.

Letting out a furious scream, she aimed at the goblin's feet and swiped at them with her staff.

[Up to you whether they hit or not, Jade.]

Iaran snarled and rolled to the side away from its charging path. Smirking she lunged underneath and stabbed at a weak point under its armour. ((Up to Jade whether they hit))

Jumping back, out of its way she twirled her daggers around her hands again. Hopping from foot to foot she giggled, "Foolish Goblin, we're much too quick for you, and you are so outnumbered. Ah well, I'm sure you fought with honour...."

When Tiherih sprung up, Elily fired a shot towards the goblin. It missed, and hit something which she didn't bother to see at the moment. Elily shot again and again, pressing the trigger numerous times, hailing bullets at the goblin.

Iaran rolled out of the way. Her knife cut Tiherih's side. Tiherih barely had time to register the pain in his mind. Karmina's staff had hit his leg, which made him stagger off balance and hop from one foot to the other all around the kitchen. He could hear gunshots sounding all around him. A bullet entered his thigh. He was dead for sure now. It wasn't as if he hadn't been expecting that.

Tiherih found himself near Karmina. His arm shot out with his knife at the Songstress. [Up to Lillie whether it hits or not.]

Karmina saw the goblin's knife slash downwards towards her. At first, she did not register anything except the realisation that he was attacking her. A second later, she felt a line of fire rip down the whole of her arm. The pain seared through and she screamed in agony. In one final, desperate attempt, she brought her staff down onto the goblin's head with all the last of her diminishing strength before falling to the ground with a sickening crash - onto the injured arm.

Maulior suddenly stared down at the floor of the room, a somewhat puzzled expression on display of his face. There was an unnatural commotion downstairs, probably in the kitchen. He turned to FulXar, concern visible on his face.

'Something's wrong. Let's go,' he got straight to the point. Grabbing his mighty sword, he turned and swiftly made his way downstairs, his robes flapping as he strode.



Elily pulled at the trigger again, but nothing came out. Out of bullets. Elily quickly ducked down, hoping to go unnoticed as she reloaded her bullets. It was far too risky to get her second gun, which was lying on the table several feet in front of her, separating her from the goblin. If she lunged forward to grab it, the goblin could very well take the opportunity to attack her while she was vulnerable.

Karmina's staff crashed down hard onto Tiherih's head. Stars popped out before his eyes as he swayed, sending drops of blood flying from the blade as his arms flopped around. His vision started to grow darker. Ah. Death. As everything dimmed, he collapsed, and crashed into somebody as he fell into unconciousness.

[Volunteers for a weird, creepy-looking, injured goblin falling on your character? ^_^]

Menai rushed to Karmina on an instinct. She automatically knelt before the girl.

'Karmina! Roll over so I can see the wound,' she ordered, taking out a roll of bandages from inside her robes.
