The sidebar images show up fine in internet explorer, but don't show up in firefox unless I roll over them.

Thanks adam!!! i'll have a poke around, it's yet another reason for me to avoid starting researching my molecular biology essay :)

I've noticed one thing, it's only tiny tho. at the top of this image:

it looks cut off because of the new style, you might wanna change that like you have done the headers.

Yeah thanks - I have made the usernames a bit smaller so it doesnt stretch so far and break the banner image. I hope that works for you

The size of the template file was 6.5k before, and now it is about 7.5k so not too much larger. Thats just the template though, I am not including the content text in that figure. Each page should be about 1k larger on average which is not much at all.

i dont think this was the case with the old layout, but on guild that dont have a white background, the edges aren't transparent.... and come out like this:
