oh... He jumped to try and save his life because the building was on fire/going to be destroyed in some way atleast. The reason everyone cheered when he jumped was because he was saving someone else's life.

Let me get this straight... The building was metal but now isn't, it hasn't been destroyed either. He jumped and died and people cheered but he would have died anyway. There wasn't someone else being saved. Anyone else want to add to this?

Hmm... was there others in the building?
Was he performing a stunt of some sort?
Was there another way out?
