I know a woman named Taquila, and someone in this family (to the people that live in the house I'm staying at) named one of their girls *gag* Bootylicious. -_-; Not sure how they spelled it, but they're forced to go by another name at school (which I can't recall what that is, I think it's her middle name, though, which is actually normal).

Haha, that reminds me of this family I grew up with where the kids were named Star, Stormy, and Sky (of course the parents get normal names -- Kim and... can't remember the father's name...). Stormy was a baby, but I think male as well (can't remember, they disappeared off the face of the Earth). Sky's not really that bad... and I've heard of both Star and Stormy as well, but it looks ridiculous when you name all of your children that way.

My boyfriend is Griffin, which I find incredibly cool. Know a kid named Jazz who's incredibly annoying. He's got a friend named Yaro. In elementary school, there was a family of 3 or 4 brothers with the last name Chrischris, and every brother had a name that was just a letter. The one in my grade was O Chrischris, there was also Q Chrischris and R Chrischris. Might have been a 4th brother I don't remember.

I met someone in my mother's old preschool class named Tremendously Calhoun the othe day.
Preschools are hotspots for weird names.

There aren't that many weird names around here, at least at high school. In elementary and preschool I bet you'll find some weird ones though. Parents these days are naming their kids odd things...

A girl in my office's name is Thelet, which means light-blue in hebrew. It's considered an odd name even here.

Well, my name is Sunnie, and half the time whenever teachers read my name they assume its something weird and pronounce it Soony... :roll:

Also, I didnt really know anyone with a weird name that I can remember... but I know a year or two ago my friend gave me a link where you could customize your own Neopets t-shirt, and I looked at the section of names you could put on it to see if my name was there (it wasn't). One name I remember was Swaniqua. I've met another Sunnie before, but never met or heard of any Swaniquas... oo;

a) yep b) no idea.

I just think it's a bit rubbish. Fair enough if you want to nick names from mythology but I think it's better to stick a bit further down the hierarchy- said friend is called Penelope- otherwise the names seem stupid and the figures are more notorious. That's why Cassandra (despite awful connotations, O WELLZ) isn't that weird but who'd call a kid Achilles?

well, I know a Diewertje (pronounced dee-wuhr-tjah). every time when someone asks her name, she has to repeat it at least 10 times before they understand

Only "not that weird"?

Most people don't know the connotations anyway, so it's pretty much okay. :P

Uh uh.. Just so you all know, Cassandra was a daughter of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troy. Apollo thought she was really beautiful, so he gave her the gift of Prophecy. Only she didn't return his love, so he cursed her. The curse was that, although she could still predict the future, no one would believe her. Now you have an excuse to just ignore whatever Cassi says.

Also, Cassandra basically means "she who entangles men".
