First off, sorry if there is already a board like this, I looked through them all (I think) but I may have missed a board similar to this. Now I would have to say its an incredibly close race between Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, but I think I have to say that Led Zeppelin just because they could wipe the floor with the Beatles when it came to talent. Plus, Led Zeppelin IV outsold the Beatles the white album by 5 million albums and was sertified platinum 22 times.

That's an impossible question. Everyone has different tastes, and whether a band is the best isn't necessarily based on sales, seeing as practically any old tat get bought. :/

yeha it is impossible to say but I mean I find it fun to debate and discuss which bands are better, and album sales always are a good staple of the band's success

so say the tone of this board is discussion about which band we believe is best.

Well in that case, I would think Evanescence is the best band ever. They have sold over 13 million albums for their debut album. Which is pretty damn good, especially in this season of everyone downloading music.

But that's just my opinion.

As we see, everyone has different tastes, so there is no real 'best band ever'. I do not even really have one, because my interests in music are so varied.

That is part of the reason I picked Led Zeppelin, they have something for everybody, they have the hard rockers such as immigrant song, and wanton song. They have celtic music such as The Battle of Evermore, and then you can get into the real soft almost elevator tangerine. Part of what makes them the best band ever is their ability to change their styles from blues to disco. Jimmy Page (Lead Guitarest) has said many times that these newer bands don't improvise and play new stuff and just burn up after three or four records.

My personal opinion is I cannot absolutely stand Led Zeppelin. The music gives me a headche and . . . well, I am just not a fan. At all.

I also cannot say for sure who my favourite band is. I listen to too much of a variation of music that if I said one (or even two) bands were the best ever, I would basically be shutting a whole genre of music.

thats what is so fun about music I absoloutely hate greenday and all rap but some people will not listen to anything else, I don't understand it and I try not to understand it.

Ignorance is bliss now isn't it? I'm not saying its not good, because its some people's slice of pie and they love it. I, however, hear a much different song when I hear a rapper talking to a beat. yes it is ignorant but I have heard it, I'm not dismissing it before I hear it.
