This ad....while I think the bracelet is pretty, the selling point is disturbing.

Anyone else think that placing a advertisement for a product to "help kids pass notes in class" instead of maybe...erm...paying attention in school doesn't really belong on a kid's site?

Maybe I'm just old fashioned. o_O

I don't think it's right, but there's a lot of things like that now a days. A lot of schools won't allow cell phones to be seen in class (they can be hidden in a back-pack, but not visable), because you can text each other... they even sell text-messaging things specifically for kids - the commercials and ads tell them to use it in class.

Some of the ads I've seen are inappropriate too. Like the credit card ones ...

If they are gonna have ads, then why not at least make them relavent.

Here Here. I fully agree.

I don't like the ads that are not relevant to Neopets or anything Neopet-Like (be it Neopets, Pokemon, Harry Potter, etc.etc)

Eh, I don't think passing notes are so bad. Sometimes you just have to tell someone something really important at an inappropriate time, you know? ;) Actually, wouldn't the notes have to be *really* little to fit in there?

The ad that bothers me is the psychic hotline ad. Of all the money sucking things to advertise. People get addicted to stuff like that.

Lol. At least there aren't any of those "ladies of the night" ads . . . yet. ;)

I agree you would think they could make more money by partnering up with toy companies.

I just think the idea behind it is bad, I'm not complaining about it being a non-neo ad or that they are using it to profit....it's the message the ad sends...anyone feel me on what I mean?

I'm just wondering where we draw the line on what's suitable for a site of this type...is it the banner above?

Or is it here? :

Or here? :

I'm just wondering, because if some parents got all up in arms over a little thing like gambling, what are they going to think when they're kid asks for them to buy some bracelet they saw on neo so they can pass notes in class.... o_O

NOTE: Just in case someone gullible comes along, the watch and knife ad are NOT ads found on Neopets, just a couple I made rather quickly as a joke to illustrate my point. :P

Exactly what I was thinking. And if the bracelet is big, then it would be obvious.

I agree there are some rather inapproriate ads.

For instance, what about that slim ad? It features a woman in her bra. Or that balloon ad? Opens up to a scam page.

The greatest one of all - Ebay. Only 2 months ago I recieved a warning for posting the Ebay jingle - because I was advertising 3rd party sites.

*feels gullible*

For a second there, I thought those ads were real, although sort of unprofessional :P
