with the "curse of maraqua" release having been penned as the 24th of this month (the day after betryers of kamigawas prerelease for magic, not that its relevant) do you think theres any chance of us seeing maraqua anytime soon?
not that there was anything there before, but we can always hope they put somthing worthwile in there.

All I know is that we were supposed to get war prizes by the end of the week, and I'll be darned if the end of the week isn't in 5 hours NST.

well, strictly speaking the week doesnt end until sunday, (or rather, midnight monday) and they do update the site at the weekends sometimes.

edit: is it just me or does the TCG "fire and ice blade" look just like the magic: the gathering one?

There's been at least one Neopets reference in a Magic card, as well; there's a Polarchuck and Raindorf in the background of this card:

Apparently "Magic: The Gathering", copied neopets Fire And Ice Blade.

fire and ice blade came out after the sword of fire and ice.
magic sets are made months in advance (theyre working on three blocks in advance, guilds of ravnica (the next block, about september release) was announced last year, the block after that codenamed some time before.
initially a coinkydink, they probably just decided to grow on it.

As payback for the copying of the Fire and Ice Blade Neo copied the Bird of Paradise in the Rainbow Pteri TCG card

As punishment for that Magic added a Polarchuck and a Raindorf into one of their cards...



And yes, Maraqua is going to be featured in the next plot.
