Short article, but I thought it was kind of interesting:

Quote:
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 (Reuters Life!) - Guard dogs protecting a fruit orchard in Malaysia have met their match -- a 7.1-metre-long (23-ft-long) python that swallowed at least 11 hounds before it was finally discovered by villagers.

"I was shocked to see such a huge python," orchard-keeper Ali Yusof told the New Straits Times in an article published beneath a picture of the captured snake, which was almost long enough to span the width of a tennis court and as thick as a tree trunk.

Villagers did not harm the snake, which was tied to a tree then handed to wildlife officials, the paper said on Friday.

Link - there's also a picture there.

Oh man, stories like this are why I love the "oddly enough" section. You just can't beat this quality of journalism.

One would think that while the first dog was being eaten the other 10 would have run away.

Perhaps the snake offered them doggy biscuits and a trip home in its tinted-windowed car ?

Just a friendly reminder to always get your pets spayed and neutered.

Oh my god.. This story is.. shocking. You know, I had a fascinaiton with snakes when I was young, so I know how.. awful things can happen seeing what they can do and eat.. but 11 dogs.. that were all in the same place.. Thats pretty... big >__>; Anyways, thats the circle of life. Now who's gonna eat teh snake? ;) lol

That's one huge snake. I'm sorta surprised that it managed to eat 11 dogs though. You'd think they'd, well, run, after the snake chomped on one or two...

Ohh poor puppies! You do have to admit, they had to have been a little thick if they were watching their other dog friends get eaten. And kudos to that snake for being able to do that. :o

And, of course, help control the pet population.

I doubt the dogs were all lined up watching each other get eaten...they were probably swallowed at various places nearby, with the snake swallowing one and then finding another one. Unless they were tied up together, in which case this now becomes the story of a snake at a buffet and I stop thinking about it.
