Interesting question no? Would you ever tattoo a significant other's name into your arm or any other body part?

Would you do it if:
1) They were a gf/bf?
2) If you've been together for 3 years?

I wouldn't get their name, but after a (very) long term relationship, I would get something that represents them.

Tatoos are for life and are they hard to remove and it would be pointless for me to get one especially as no-one knows how long they may be in love with someone for.

Actually, I think that I would know, when I was with the person, whether or not I would do it. At one point or another, I probably will. If we break up, so be it, but if you think you're ever going to want something removed, you have no business getting that tattoo. I would not get any tattoo removed, even if I had a name on me and then that person broke up with me. It would represent a big part of my life.

Ditto to that You just never know what could be round the corner. You could love them one day, decide to get a tattoo of their name and then fall out big time and split up for good the next day.

Honestly anything is a stupid idea if you don't think it through. Like Kyra said, its a lifetime commitment, and even laser removal isn't gonna compare to never having it done. But if you really feel like you love this person enough, then yes, go ahead, honor that person however you want to. If you're getting a tattoo, it should never be to 'show off' it should be for you, a personal momento of a time you were at or a person that you love. (For me that would require a very long term relationship, closer to ten years rather then five.)

My dad has.. three tattoos, all of which have a meaning.
I have no damn idea what it is mind you (I don't like to ask, long story short he was in the army during the cold war) but still.

Not a chance. I don't think I'd ever considering getting any tattoo, let alone the name of someone who there's always the chance I would end up hating at some point. Plus, I think name tattoos look stupid anyway
