Sorry to be such a New Member, but I'm looking for a good tutorial for making transparent backgrounds in Photoshop 7.0 . . . can anybody link me up?

Easy Peasy, mate.

Remove the background layer-- unlock it and delete.

Save As > Png (Transparency on)
or

Save as > GIF (Transparency on)

the transparency is normally enabled by default.
