What is the Glitch of 4/4/04?

I'm new on Neo, and Have No clue.

The glitch involved the "retrieve my password" form. Basically, instead of the password being emailed to the account's email address, it (and the email address) was displayed on the page instead.

This meant anybody could get into anybody's account for a brief period of time. The problem was, people often didn't go straight into the account, but instead waited until people thought it was over in the hopes they wouldn't change their password.

Basically there was a lot of panic on the Neoboards that day. I think theneopetsteam account even got broken into at one stage (possibly a different glitch, it was three years ago - my memory isn't perfect). Lots and lots of chaos all because of a simple mistake made.

A monitor's account was broken into and screenshots were taken which proved (if I recall correctly) that monitors had the power to freeze accounts, which was a power previously denied by the neopets staff.

I don't recall Neopets ever denying the fact that monitors could freeze people - it wouldn't make sense if they couldn't. If monitors couldn't then scammers etc could continue scamming until a super-mod etc came on to fix it. They deny having freeze bots, but not moderators that can freeze

Heck, when the Neoboards first came out, there was a glitch that meant everybody could see the mods' powers for a short time - it had the freeze option there
