Mozilla is attempting to beat the World Record for most software downloads in 24 hours.

Sounds like a good deal, right? All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours - it’s that easy. We're not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.

The official date for the launch of Firefox 3 is June 17, 2008. Join our community and this effort by pledging today.

You're certainly out of luck if you have Ubuntu 8.04, as it ships with Firefox 3. XD
I downloaded for Linux. Might download for Windows as well. I'm running 2.0 with Wine, so it might be time for an upgrade.

Something about the nature of the Internet makes me think trying to break the Downloads per day record is a fools errand.

The new update is AWFUL if you're playing Yooyuball on Neo :P Everything goes about 3x as fast as it did in FF2.

If you're low on RAM (whether it be bad computer, running tons of stuff at once, or both), certainly download Firefox 3. They've done something to it which makes it hog less of it then it did before- WAY less. I also like how it'll save which tabs are open when you exit out. Very handy!

Ah, I thought that was only me! I think I've just finally adjusted to the speeds...probably has something to do with FF taking less memory now (maybe?).

I'm too stupid to figure out how to install the Linux install, but I have it running on Wine and it works marvelously.
The only thing is that the pictures are a little fuzzy on some pages. *shrug*

Bah, Opera's been beating Firefox for pure awesome forever.

I'm fairly certain such a record would be nearly impossible to make accurately...

Unless they have a hit counter or something.
And while we're having a browser battle...Konqueror pwns them all.

FF2 does that as well :P (Tools - Options - Main - Startup - When Firefox Starts - Show my Windows and Tabs from last time)
