So Coldplay's new album, Viva la Vida came out on Tuesday, exclusively on iTunes. Has anyone bought the album? What do you think of it?

I had pre-ordered it and downloaded it on Tuesday. I can't stop listening to it! I think it's Coldplay's best album to date. My favorite songs are "Lost!", "Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love", and "Viva la Vida". I highly recommend this album if you like anything else by Coldplay :)

I downloaded it when it leaked a few weeks ago and bought it on Tuesday. (And it's not exclusively on iTunes - the single Viva La Vida was for a while though)

I love it. My favorite songs are Cemeteries of London, 42, and Strawberry Swing, but Viva La Vida is good too.

I don't know if I like it more than A Rush of Blood to the Head. It's definitely more original and creative than X&Y.

You can buy the album in stores, but it's not the entire album. I was in Best Buy yesterday and looked at it - there are definitely songs that I got from iTunes that aren't on the album that was released in stores.

I think it's stunning. I've never been a huge fan of Coldplay before this, but they've done it with this album. The songs are... I don't know. They surprise me. Cemeteries of London is haunting.

After X&Y I went out and bought all of coldplay's albums and I just absolutely adore Violet Hill. I have it playing on repeat, but the rest of the album is fantastic. Coldplay never seem to let me down :)

My friend forced me to Viva La Vida, and it wasn't bad I'm gonna download them for myself later.

I'm not really into this new album.

It doesn't seem that much different from X&Y and while I loved the songs off that album, I was hoping they'd go in a new direction. Maybe I'm just deaf, but I feel as if they're repeating what worked for them last time on "Vida La Vida".

I actually didn't like X&Y but I did love Parachute, so it looks like that will always be my favorite album of theirs. Of course, in the case of Viva la Vida I've only heard Viva la Vida, Violet Hill, and Lost; all are pretty good, though not exemplary. Of course that's not to say those three songs capture the essence of the album, but hey.

I've only heard a couple songs from this album but I already love it. Coldplay is just so different from most of the crap you hear nowadays, it almost puts me in a trance. I love it.

I was a big fan of Coldplay before, but X&Y really wore me down after a few listens (I liked it at first, even saw them in concert). I'm happy to say that Viva la Vida is a return to the days of Parachutes and Rush of Blood..., especially since the music is different and they're not repeating themselves as they were on X&Y, but the lyrical content in this album seems very weak. Just a little too much faux-encouragement, attempts at sounding deep, plus the dreadful "You might be a big fish in a little pond" fiasco on "Lost!". A close second? "Soldiers, you've got to soldier on" on "Lovers in Japan". The title track is definitely the album's strongest point, and the lyrics actually work.

Another thing I have to bring in question is how much of the music is being played by the band itself... Their live performance on the Daily Show was a bit disappointing in how much string sampling they used, and despite the iPod commercial, "Viva la Vida" doesn't seem to have anything for the rest of the band to do, since there's almost no guitar and bass, and just a simple timpani in the background.

Thank God they've gotten back to their old style. But they've given it a new twist. I suppose I'll have to wait a while to see where I think it fits in overall.
