How did you get "hacked"? According to TNT, it is impossible to hack Neopets, so the only way would be that you inadvertently leaked your password.

Anyways, I feel sorry for you. I can imagine what it feels like to lose the items and np you have amassed after many months and years of hard work. Be more careful next time! *cuddles*

They changed my password..I know I got the right one, I still have the email. So I couldnt get into my account ;.;

Aw... Dont worry it'll be okay. My sister got hacked once but the guy stupidly left his s/n on her user lookup so he got frozen fast.

I think it is increadibly stupid that anyone would spend their time trying to steal imaginary money and items. It's very sad that they have nothing better to do than try to cheat people on Neopets.

I was scammed and hacked about 3 months ago. everything gone, the same thing happened. I reported the scene to TNT and they froze me fro a bit, but regained my precious. *purrs*

By any chance, did they have any contact with you before it? luckily they neomailed me and I told TNT that they're username was somewhere in my neomail ^>^

you should definitely run scans of your a/v and spyware (and have them updated before you do so) just to make sure there's nothing on your computer. No, nothing's perfect and things can be missed, but more times than not if there's bad stuff, a good scan will find it and get rid of it.

Also, if you're using a web based email like hotmail or yahoo, those are notorious for being easy to "crack" - once they have your email info, they can get any and all passwords to anything. So if you do have to use a web-based email - get a new s/n, make the password security question answer something really hard and insane - that no one could ever guess.

Public computer use? If you do, check that no one's watching you as you type. Also make sure you log out and clear the cookies/temp internet before you leave that computer.

Lastly, don't give anyone any of your passwords and don't give anyone or communicate with anyone you don't know via email, aim, im or even neomail. May sound paranoid -- but it seems more and more they ARE out to get us!
